Making the D Great Again: Drop 10 into coverage and forget the rushmen

Watching Marinelli's rushmen get stonewalled for 60 minutes is pretty embarrassing. It's not really his fault though since he's throwing out journeyman and back-ups out on the field right now.

If we're not getting pressure with four people, why not start dropping more people into coverage? And by more, I mean 10. Obviously you have to send at least one guy or the QB will just hold onto the ball all day.

But imagine the coverage we'd have with 10 guys locking down 5 receivers. That's literally doubling every person. I used to do this in Madden, and my 9 year old nephew would never score on me.

I know Bob Sturm reads this forum, and he's kind of a big deal. Pretty sure Dak reads this forum too since T-Will wasn't targeted last week.

Someone fax this to Rod. When Brian Hoyer tries throwing it into double coverage every play, you're welcome.

P.S. the one guy rushing would be Tyrone Crawford. Let him get beat up by five 300+ lineman every play for robbing Jerry

I know you are joking but the reality is in the 3-4 one of the benefits is that you can drop 8, not that anyone ever does it in normal situations.

Cant do it in this type of defense. They are just going to keep shooting the gaps and hoping.

Our pass rush will improve quite a bit with Lawrence returning in two weeks.

I hate to say one person can turn around a unit but if he can get the pressure he got late last season, it would go a long way in turning this defense around.

If there was an elite pass rusher in the draft, he would be on the team right now. Zeke going at four is the product of a weak first round. There is nobody in the draft that went within 10 picks of Zeke having an impact that I can think of.

Was not within 10 spots, but Kevin Dodd is looking pretty good so far.

The highest drafted player playing on our line is a 3rd rounder 5 years ago. All the rest are low round picks. Our line is garbage.
