He's officially the guy I want next year in one of our first round draft picks.

Yes he's only a Junior next year, but I don't think there's anyway he stays 4 years at OU. Here's a nice highlight vid of him from plays he made last year.

That's Paul Thompson throwing the ball and he was a good leader and a decent QB but not accurate.

He catches w/ his hands and not w/ his body, and that's a huge positive in my book.

He's had to adjust to the ball in quite a few of those plays, which begs the question....is route running something he needs to work on or was his QB not very accurate?

It's probably more the passer. Thompson for all of the strengths he has, accuracy isn't one of them. But Malcolm isn't experience with route running also. In HS he was on a team that ran the ball a lot. And so he didn't run a ton of routes. He's been a really good learner at OU though. That won't be a problem in the NFL.

Let's see how he does this year in college before drafting him in the 1st next year. Where is he ranked on the top 100 for next year's draft.
give me McFadden and Sweed.

Malcolm Kelly is super-talented. My only concerns are

1) he's coming off of an injury suffered in the Fiesta Bowl

2) no one knows who'll be throwing the ball to him

OU looks stacked at RB again this year, so Malcolm might not be able to show off his receiving skills as much as he'd like.

Then again, that could mean that we could draft him at a discount!

I would love McFadden but Sweed is overrated. He's not even one of the 5 best WRs in the Big 12 next year IMO. He's not a bad WR he'll be a good WR but he's not first round material.

Count me in on the Malcolm Kelly camp. I don't think he's a huge playmaker after the catch but I think he has terrific hands and has the potential to be a very good player at the next level. Someone said he reminded them of Sidney Rice but I'd say that the difference between them is that Kelly is consistently productive while Rice had a ton of his stats piled up in one game. If I remember correctly Larry Fitzgerald was also used as a comparison and I think that's pretty accurate. Depending on who comes out at WR next year I'm not sure how highly Kelly will be drafted but right now I'm thinking late first or early-mid second, which would work perfect for us.

McFadden and Kelly would be terrific next year.

As you said, I think Sweed is a little overrated and really not much of a down field threat. Seems like another one of those bog bodied receivers who doesn't get terrific separation in his routes and may not be as effective in the NFL as he is in college.

He is a player who we must study and see how he improves over this year.

He looks pretty good catching the ball. Not the best at YAC. That song was horrible.

He has great hands but he is definately not a game changer. He doesnt have great speed or elusiveness. I dont think he will be anything more than a solid posession receiver in the nfl. I would much rather have Manningham.

If we draft Sweed in the first round I'll break Jerry Jones' thigh bones with a sledgehammer.

He's the second coming of Keyshawn Johnson, hopefully minus the 'tude...

And unless he gets hurt this year, he's pretty close to a first round lock in 08...

what the difference bt him and Jarrett? maybe 4.5 40 instead of 4.6? Good hands but not special.

I think he's faster then Jarrett. He doesn't have the talent around him Jarrett has had. Not that OU's talent is bad. But Booty and Leinart are first round draft picks. The 2 QBs Kelly has had throwing to him won't be drafted more than likely.
