For a wide reciever, and a guy 6'4" (or 6'3", whatever it is) tall with long arms 14 reps isn't too shabby. Not the most impressive but not too shabby.

I'm 6'1", and have those long *** arms too, and I'd be THRILLED to pump 225 fourteen times.

I really just like his hands, personally, cause he's catches the ball with them and does a nice job of not dropping a lot of passes. I'm not talking about just in his workout, but in general, he's got great hands.

4.670 was a lot faster than I got. I got 4.8+ and just over 5.

That video was a little disappointing. He showed good hands, but if he cuts like that in the NFL with his speed, he won't get any seperation. I guess I was expecting more...

The guy has just avg speed for a NFL WR. He does not have elite speed. Neither does he lack speed other than elite speed. He has very good hands and catches balls thrown near him. He adjusts on the long ball well. He has the ability to get off the line and defenders trying to stuff him. He is a little better than avg out of his breaks and has good hip turn. But he takes too many false steps trying to set the DB up. Too much wasted motion. He's tough enough. He knows how to play the sideline. I don't know enough about taking real abuse. I haven't seen enough.

He projects to a low rated #2 at best but most likely is going to be a steady #3-4 WR. That's at best because he's not guaranteed anything by me.

I don't want him on my ballclub.

I think he will be the best WR in this class...I don't care about his 40 time...he catches the ball like spider man...and he is way better than a #3 or #4...that is just rediculous

What do you think I mean and why is it ridiculous?

He's a wide receiver, not a linebacker.

He's 6'4" 230 lbs. I don't care if he's a punter, that bench wasn't impressive.

I did 17 reps in college (and that is far from impressive, not even close) at 5'11" 215 lbs.

We had a WR (who ended up in the NFL, might still be) by the name of Bryan Gilmore who as a sophomore could bench 345 lbs and did 24 reps @ 225 lbs. ANd he was about might height but about 20 lbs lighter.

catching the ball is great, and he does have excellent hands

but you gotta be able to get open and beat man coverage...guys like Jerry Rice, Steve Largent and Michael Irvin (after the multiple knee injuries) didnt have track speed, but they were great route runners who could beat anyone 1 on 1...and especially Irvin and Rice were explosive after the catch, racking up alot of yds after catch...not sure I see any of those skills in Kelly

I tend to agree with this. Mike Williams was was 6-5 230 lbs. ran a 4.56 I believe and he has had real problems seperating from DBs in the NFL. The one thing Williams could do was catch the football. He plucked the ball out of the air, just like you teach it. He had good hands but just can't get that crucial speration you need to be able to get. In the old days, you could use your body more to shield DBs. Now, you can't do that as much so it is really a disadvantage for bigger WRs IMO. I see a lot of physical simularities between these two players but that is just me.

Good for you and your buddy.

Who cares if Kelly's bench was impressive? Is he gonna be lifting CB's over his head?

Please. Most WR's don't even do the drill.

Upper body strength is important. It helps in both downfield blocking and your release from the LOS. In the NFL, this really is the most important part of running routes effectively. You can be the most precise route runner in the world but if you can't get off the line on time, then it doesn't matter. Your QB will go through progressions and move right on by to his next read if your not there. It is importnat but I also think that it's something that can be worked on when you get to the NFL. It's a lot of the reason why WRs take so long to develop in the NFL. The difference between the strength of the DBs in the NFL and College are rediculous. You have to be able to get off the ball and into your route on time or you will never play in the NFL. Just how it is.
