IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys’ pass rush suffered the first setback of the offseason, as rookie defensive tackle Maliek Collins has been sidelined with a broken right foot.

Collins suffered the injury last week during the Cowboys’ first round of OTAs, and he’ll miss the remaining six of nine offseason practices – not to mention June’s three-day minicamp.

The third-round draft pick has already undergone surgery, and the initial timetable for recovery is expected to be 10-to-12 weeks -- which would have him set to return to the field somewhere around the tail end of training camp.

I bet he will be on PUP to start the season. As they will claim, they do not want to rush him back to the field. This will give him time to rehab, then get some practices in on the 3 to 5 week evaluation period before they activate him.

It's sad, yes - but, this is football folks. Let's just hope and pray we don't see the headlines with the dreaded ACL/MCL, Achilles, etc..........
