Maliek Collins: Is he ready to start?

The book on him coming out was that he had an exeptional first step, but got turned around much at the POA. Seemed like a guy who really needed to improve his core strength to be a full time starter but could a very effective situational rusher out of the gate.

If this holds true, or pass rush could get better, but our run defense may suffer with him in the game. He will a guy to watch to see if the draftniks got it wrong either way. Wouldnt be the first time

I think he's a rotation guy this year. Sounds like the ends will be Crawford and Lawrence. Next season i expect Collins to start

Yeah, they switched schemes. He was a bad fit and saw his draft stock plummet as a result.

Seems the coaches are really high on him. So hopefully, he can add something to the rotation.

He has alot to work on body wise, but hopefully playing a pure penetration spot will cover that up. He has more talent to get into the backfield then any of our other DTs

Sunday could be a good look at our rookie class. If Scandrick sits, Brown will get a ton of snaps as the Nickle CB. With Collins starting, 4 rookies could play major roles Sunday

He's been the most overlooked of the draft choices. But I think the coaches really like him and he's going to have an impact this year.

So what does this mean, more Crawford at DE? I hope so, I feel MUCH BETTER about this defensive line having two big bodies at DT and Crawford focusing on rushing the passer.
