It's really not that stupid. A high school team uses (or used) a Madden style philosophy in their games and was successful @ it. Definately wouldn't work in the NFL but with the right players, it can definately work in college.

People love to poke fun @ madden but that's how I learned about Safety play and coverages back in Madden 94/95. Based off of how the safeties react, you can determine man, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, cover 4, etc. Just always found that amusing because that does translate to one's deeper understanding of the game, esp a young man learning the game on his own
