INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man died after falling nine stories from a deck of a hotel overlooking Monument Circle, where thousands of people were attending a concert as part of the NFL's season-opening festivities, authorities said Friday.
Investigators were treating the Thursday night death of Timothy Krochalk, 32, as a suicide, said Capt. Phil Burton of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Krochalk faced outstanding warrants for child molesting, Burton said.
He was pronounced dead at Wishard Memorial Hospital at 7:40 p.m., about 30 minutes after the fall, a Marion County Coroner's Office report said.
Krochalk might have jumped from the outdoor pool deck of the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel, Deputy Police Chief Joseph McAtee said. A party was being held at the time on the pool deck, which is surrounded by a railing, he said.
"Whatever he had with him, he left on the table and walked over to the wall," McAtee said.
No injuries on the ground were reported.
The NFL sponsored the concert featuring Faith Hill and Kelly Clarkson before the league's season opener in which the defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts beat the New Orleans Saints 41-10.
Indy game boring people to death? Did he die by celebrating or by a celebration?
Ok, not funny in the slightest.
