ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Police say a man shot outside the Dallas Cowboys' stadium after a game Sunday was trying to break up a fight.

Arlington police said Monday the suspect, 28-year-old Marvin Rodriguez, pointed a gun at a man during an earlier fight and then shot a 43-year-old man in the neck as the man tried to break up a later fight in the parking lot.

The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. His name hasn't been released...

Murder and violence are down significantly over the past few decades. This whole "moral decay"/"what has this world come to?" thing is just a boomer schtick.

Well public shootings seems not to be (schools, theaters, etc.).

Still alive and well in my state (Michigan).

The FBI Violent crime statistics have Detroit as the most violent city in the Americas. The # of violent crimes was down 1.5% from the year before, however, general consensus is many of the crimes are no longer reported. It takes up to an hour for the remaining Detroit police/fire to respond to 911 calls and there are deady bodies turning up all over the place all the time.

Flint would have been #1 however it dipped below 100,000 people and is no longer counted by the FBI a major city.

I'm not at all justifying what happened, but those fans were BY FAR the most obnoxious fans I've encountered at our stadium. Even more so than eagles fans. Apparantly the guy who did the shooting had already been in a fight that day. Obviously, he was looking for trouble, but it doesnt help adding that fanbase. I had a girl get in my face, telling me I had to move and "let the Champions through". I was just standing there. I'm not about hitting a girl, but she was asking for a broken nose. It was just a weird day, overall. Just adding some insight, since I was actually there.

Do we know if anyone involved was even a Pats fan?

Oh I don't deny that there are areas of the country with significant violence. South Chicago comes to mind. Even my city of Indianapolis comes to mind as having recent major crime issues.

But this whole "society is going to hell in a handbasket" thing is just flat out wrong if you look at the stats. It's a tired narrative unsupported by reality.

The guy who got shot was breaking up a fight; I can almost guarantee you the fight involved a pats fan.

I guess we'll find out soon enough if Marvin Rodriguez was a Pats fan.

I hear the victim just got engaged
