Just reported on ESPN that Mangini will be fired by the Jets and announced at a 10:00 AM press conference.

I thought they'd give him one more year. Surprising. But they have a ton of money tied up in that team, so they expect results.

I bet that means Favre won't come back.

There will be a lot of coaches fired and hired over the next few weeks. I hope Jerry comes to his senses before we lose the opportunity to find a good coach.

Yeah, Favre is probably done. Again.

And no, let's not bring him here.

Yeah .... at least they are smart enough to get rid of their coach when he fails. Are you listening Jerry?

As I stated in another thread, he would be the perfect B. Stewart replacement if JJ sticks by his word to keep Wade.

Who would take Stewarts job? The only reason Jerry is keeping Wade is so he can run the Defense. If Wade doesn't do that, there is no reason to keep him here. I'd be surprised if Stewart is fired, because nobody in their right mind would take that DC job.

People should not automatically dismiss this guy.

I bet he wanted to stick with Pennington or at least move on to Clemens. That organization forced Favre on him because they needed buzz to compete with the prices the Giants were setting for PSLs at the new stadium. And a big reason why the Jets failed this season was Brett Favre. You could see Mangini's frustration with him when Favre threw his first interception yesterday - that's been brewing all season long.

Mangenius is a good coach. I'd love to have someone like him here. It would certainly bring a level of respectability that is missing with the clown circus we have now.

He is being fired because of Favre.

Favre, the true coach killer. Not the direction I would have gone. I do like Mangini though.

I'm slightly surprised by this because I thought he had them returning to the correct direction.

Oh well. Good luck to him in whatever he does elsewhere.

This move may give us some flexibility. Mangini is a very good D Coord with 3-4 experience.

The only thing keeping Wade here is his work with the D. A good DC being available might make Jerry think again here.

I don't understand that at all. He's so young, and a lot of their collapse is on Favre.

This is why you don't listen to fan sentiment. What are the odds they'll get someone that's truly significantly better? Probably not that great. And then they'll be right back where they are now in a couple of years.

He can come here and be DC and we can hire Josh Mc Daniels to be HC.

Honestly, if we go young, hot coordinator, it will be Garrett.

I would have never foreseen this move. Pretty dumb if you ask me.
