If both these guys make it to the 18th pick, who do you want the boys to draft?

Neither. We need Brod Bunkley, dt from FSU. He's a top pass rusher, could be Glover's replacement. There are plenty of quaility RT in draft on day one and two.

How about McNeil at 18 and Carpenter in the 2nd? If Carpenter lasts that long....

I think both players will be good. I think Lawson is going to be the next Shawn Merriman/ Demarcus Ware. He will be special. I don't know if we can get a good tackle in the 2nd though. Tackles are going higher and higher in the draft because of their importance.

Neither......

Trade down or Bobby Carpenter.

It won't be a safety.

Guarantee that much.

RT's can be had well after the 1st round. LT's are the ones usually going in the 1st. And this draft is loaded with OT's. So I can see them waiting on a RT and going for a LB, S or WR in the 1st.

Asked this the other day. Why do you feel we need a 3 Technique DT for our 34?

I agree. Maybe Ngata will slip. Watson might be there in the 2nd.

Same reason you think QC was a good QB?

I really like Lawson and think he'd be good here, but imo its not close, I'd much rather get McNeill and I think our OL is in much worse shape than our lb corps.

you never know what the combine will do. he could easily slide into the first with a great combine, players do it every year.

I don't think we should be looking for a tackle who can only plug one position.

All it would take is Flo to bust up a tendon again and we're back in a version of this year's situation. We need a lineman who can play both sides, RT and LT, even if we target him for RT.

IMO, versatility is something we need if we draft another tackle.

David.

I think McNeill could fill in at LT. Better fit at RT but could do LT if injuries occur.

1) Marcus McNeil
2) Taitusi Lutui
Taitusi Lutui OG/RT USC
Strengths
This is a kid that knows how to play guard in both the running game and the passing game. He has a wide base, but for his body type, it works well for him. Taitusi understands how to use leverage to his advantage and uses his hands very well when pass blocking. Taitusi doesn't lunge or over-extend when he's blocking; he has excellent balance. He is quick enough out of his stance to handle the quick 1-gap DT’s and strong enough to handle a DT on his nose. He is a pure guard, but played at RT last year and was one of the best before he moved to guard. Taitusi has 1st round talent.
Needs to Improve
Everyone pays so much attention to all the other players on this team that Taitusi is a bit of a sleeper right now. I would think by the time we get to the draft that he will not be.
Bottom Line
Taitusi is a plug-in pick. By that I mean, you draft him and plug him into your line up and forget about that position for about ten years. He has 1st round talent. He has proven that he can play both the RT position and the LG position equally well. Make no mistake about it, this kid has everything you're looking for in a player that can play at the next level. He looks to be an O-lineman that could play two different positions and be a Pro Bowl player at both of them. If this kid is not rated as a 1st or 2nd round pick by the time we get to the draft, I'll burn my jock strap! (Oops, did I say that out loud?!) I mean your jock strap. No! That’s disgusting! Well, you know what I mean. This kid is ready for the next level and should be an excellent O-lineman for the team that drafts him.
