He completed 6 passes on Saturday, and 3 of those were for touchdowns. And ran with ease on the few plays where he did that. Overall he played very well during the time he was on the field. For me it's too early to say whether his play this season will be Heisman-worthy or not, but it's certainly started out well. It will depend on whether A&M can beat Alabama & LSU this season, IMO.

If you're saying you don't like him because of his non-football behavior that's a different story, which could also affect his Heisman chances. But on the field he's as good as any QB out there.

I am pretty sure the OP was making jokes. Manziel won't be in College Station next year.

In any case Aaron Rodgers fell because he was too cocky and too much of a runner.

Manziel won't fall far unless far more comes out then being a cocky numbskull, Dallas amongst other teams apparently loves him.

Falling for Manziel would be going from mid round 2 to round 3, not top of round 1 to bottom of round 1.

Who cares? He isn't hurting for money and Russell Wilson has proven it isn't about where you are drafted.

Brady went in round 5.
3 years from now no one will care where Manziel was drafted provided it wasn't first overall then busting out.

He is better off going mid to late round 2 imho.
Less pressure and to a better team.

3 years from now people won't remember who Johnny Manziel is. Eric Crouch part deux except Crouch was also a good person instead of a POS.

Didn't Jameis Winston already win the Heisman?

Well, I think Tebow is a better example, but yea.

With a class this deep, I wouldnt expect to see Manziel go until the fourth round at the earliest.

Well since you asked...

I think people (I'm looking at you, ESPN) need to relax on trying to award the Heisman Trophy while you still have several teams that haven't even started playing yet. ESPN already spent the past 8 months awarding the Heisman to Jadeveon Clowney, then when he has a bad game, they eagerly throw him away and are ready to give it to anyone who had a good first game.

How about we play some football first, and start worrying about Heisman in November?

A better comparison would be Ryan Leaf. While Leaf never won Heisman, he was certainly a superior college talent who simply lacked the maturity and work ethic needed to succeed at the next level.

Manziel may have his limitations, but Crouch is a poor comparison. Crouch was a terrible passer. He completed only 51.5% of his passes and barely threw more touchdowns than interceptions(29 TDs, 25 Ints). His yards per attempt is a full 2 yards less than Manziel. Manziel even averages over 1.5 yards more per rushing attempt. Crouch was never considered to be an NFL QB prospect. Manziel will at least get some sort of chance to QB in the NFL.

Or last year when Geno Smith was declared a lock after his very first game against a horrendous defense. Oops.

I don't care. Was just pointing it out, as some seem to think he's projected to be the top overall pick or at least top 5. At least for now, that is not the case.
As they say, I have no horse I this race.

I don't know if he's Heisman material again this year but he lost a fan in me after his actions last weekend.

I knew he was a cocky kid but that was ridiculous.
