here is a list of the cut downs so far, sometimes teams try to sneak players through early to get them on their practice squad later. Are there any players that could help the Cowboys now?

I noticed Marcus Monk WR that the cowboys had alittle interest in, and jerry bloom at one time reportedly was a good kickoff and punt returner, so what do you think?

I would not mind trying to sign Monk and finding a place on the practice squad for him

If we sign him he has to go to our active roster.

I'm concerned if Monk got cut from Chicago they don't have any WR.

Monk must have shown absolutely nothing to not make a Chicago squad that has exactly nothing at the WR position.

Me too. I think he needs a full year to completely recover from his knee injury. Put him on the PS and roll the dice.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Not necessarily. After the final cuts, if he is still unsigned, he can be signed to the practice squad. Technically, there is no practice squad until it is created after everyone has cleared waivers. He is a first year rookie and would be eligible, but only after the final cutdown.

I'm concerned if Monk got cut from Chicago they don't have any WR.

I am more concerned that he has been cut right now from a WR poor team. He didn't even get to the final cut and that means there are six-seven better receivers on the Bears roster. Chances are he is not anything like some around here believed he was as a prospect, probably due to his injury issues.

I would not waste time pouring through the first cuts from anyone. Chances are they are not anything better than what we currently have. Now the final cuts are a different story as you see talent that falls out due to the number crunch. If any of these players get signed right now, it is more to have a warm body than anything substancial.

I am curious how far along he is from his injury.

I am pretty sure the Cowboys were interested in him but the injury situation must have played a part in it.

As others have said, if he got cut from the bears team, with the WR issues they have, than he must not be doing so well...but you have to wonder if the injury issue played into that.

Could be a deal like Columbo where you get him to sit a year and hope things turn out next year.

Marcus was someone I really wished we had taken on the second day. Physically, he compares well w/ Sweed who went 5 rds ahead of him (he may actually be a bit taller and timed a litter faster though). I think what hurt him the most on draft day was the fact that he came from a school that was run happy.

If we can sign him and stash him away at the PS, I think he'd be a very serviceable receiver a couple of years from now (not a one or a two, but someone who could potentially excel in the red zone). JMO.

The knee may be an issue, but I think the fact he's a product of Arkansas' offense is the biggest issue. He's probably going to need a good 2 years to run proper routes, etc...

Speaking of tall receivers, does anyone know how James Hardy's looked in TC so far?

I thought very good the one time I saw him. Very good routes and decent hands.

James Hardy has been unreal for Buffalo so far. He out jumps anyone in the league and has great hands. And for a big guy, he runs routes well, real well.

You may be right Al. I don't know. The other side of that is that if you really are WR poor and you need to bring in guys that can actually produce for you, then you may not have the luxury of keeping a guy you know you can't wait for or have time to develop. Essentially, if you have to make due, you bring in as many guys who can play now and see if numbers produce a WR that can play for you. The sooner you cut Monk, the more time you have to bring in guys and start sifting through them, looking for a WR.

I think I might check out his knee and see. Monk had considerable talent at Arkansas prior to the injury. If you could put him on the practice squad, that might not be a bad idea. Would depend on the sevarity of the injury I suppose.

I wonder what's up with Sammie Parker getting released by the Broncos. Is he the Oregon-KC guy?
