I think part of it is SJ trying to make sure Dallas has enough cap space to sign players like Diggs and Micah Parsons to bigger contracts. I don't think SJ has the capacity , expertise, or motivation to figure out what else to do with the money.

Jerry, by his own admission, has no interest in someone else coming in, building a winner, and taking all the credit. He would rather be in charge of the "we'll get 'em next year" teams than sit through another HC disrespecting him or garnering all the media attention.

Coup started to say things about Dak that Jones didn't want to hear......... things we say on this board daily. So, he gets shipped off as a malcontent for a 5th rounder? Thats a joke. But the real mistake was not replacing him. Julio Jones looked pretty dam good Sunday night and we could have had him for half the price of Amari. Lamb is a number #2 at best. He's a possession wr with suspect hands. Michael Irvin didn't have great speed either but he caught everything. It was a bad pick........not as bad as philly taking Raegor ahead of Justin Jefferson but the pick should have been Jefferson.

This is exactly right. It's been this way from the beginning, for decades and now. It will never change. So you can just try to enjoy the hobby or let the front office eat away at you to the point where you choose to come her and complain . Not YOU specifically but those are the options.
Good for Jerry though, he can field an even worse team and still fill the stadium with other events, essentially filling his pockets.
What's really interesting to be is all the media that gives them all the attention. All the drama and how everything is a HUGE story. It's pathetic.

Well it’s coming to a end. I think he will see fan dropping off. Maybe the opposing fans will buy more tickets. But sales will be dropping. The old guy don’t realize if he gives some power away he will get a trophy and a lot more money..

2016 was supposed to be the window. When we didn't put the starting QB back in, out of superstition and smoke screen....the window closed. Such a clean window many didn't even noticed it close and flew into it like Hitchcock's Birds.

Fan ire is about the only thing that has any sway to the organization. It is not going to show up in ticket sales b/c most of the seats are sold through PSLs......... and you have to forfeit the PSL if you don't buy the season tickets. It will show up in lack of fan attendance and enthusiasm. It will show up in social media. Jerry doesn't like criticism. Last time the fans got irked at him en masse, he actually did take a step back and hired parcels.

Jerry Jones will never win another SB.

It’s just that simple. Stephen like won’t either unless he has a come to Jesus moment.

Here's the thing, and this is not going to be a popular opinion. No one is going to throw garbage at Aikman. Hell, they probably wouldn't throw garbage at Tony Romo, and the Cowboys didn't win anything with him. But Dak, a Dallas QB that got paid 160M and couldn't hold Tony Romo's jock strap, and has also won nothing having as bad a game as he did, some fans had no respect. There were no redeeming qualities to prevent this.

Most fans don't get into cap details and offseason moves. They just watch the games. If I'm a Cowboys QB I probably ask for a trade. Similar to what Wilson did. Similar to Rodgers concerns. Why Aikman was frustrated at the end of his career. These QBs want to know their GM is thinking about winning.

I will say one thing. All of that went right out the window when Rodgers got that 50M per year contract. I have to wonder why someone that already has 100s of millions is so motivated by 100s of millions more. I think it's a sickness.

Agree with a lot of this but if Rayne Dakota ask for a trade and gets in a division with real competitive teams he may fare worse…….he would have to get on stacked team to have any success. I’m not sure that a stacked team would be able to afford his contract. I believe the die is cast

Good point. I'm just sayin'. Look at Stafford. Goff and Garoppolo actually got to a SB. Romo never came close and he was better than all of them. Anything is better than a front office that isn't supporting you.

Romo, Tyron, Frederick, Zach, and Ware deserved their big contracts. You just can’t pay guys like almost Anthony, Jaylon, I ect. Dak, Zeke, and Lawrence are on the average side. If you are not sure about them, you franchise them like Shultz.

DLAW hasn't been able to stay healthy. Every team has players that get paid more than they contribute. Thats not the main problem in Dallas. The main problem is that we "like our guys" a little too much and take a lazy approach to free agency. The Bengals made it to the super bowl last year, but they didn't sit back and think "we came close so lets just bring back the same team and try to do better". Thats what we do, but we do it with teams that barely make or miss the playoffs. The Bengals rebuilt their OL spending over 180M in new contracts. So which front office do you think wants to win more?

Would Dallas had been better of trading Dak to Detroit for Stafford? That is decisions the Joneses have to decide. Signing Von Miller instead of signing Armstrong/Atlanta JAG/Barr. The Joneses have to take chances. They seem afraid. The Cooper trade was a good gamble that was successful . I don’t get the fear.

Exactly this. We overvalue and overpay for our own homegrown mediocre talent and bypass bringing in FA's that can actually help the team win/improve. Jones become emotionally attached to these guys and between that and the whiskey fog he can't see what everyone else does.

The cowboys won't be able to field a team then. We've seen the same dance for 25 years, so it's much deeper than the talent on field or even the coaching. Simply trying to 'be tough' on the guys won't do anything because teams will gladly pluck our talent from us.

Remember how Demarcus Ware was washed up before he teamed up with Von Miller in Denver and won a superbowl? Martellus Bennett was a problem child before he ended up winning a superbowl with the patriots. The dysfunction starts in the FO and any changes you make won't get you results beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs until that initial problem is fixed.
