Hey guys, I was just thinking:

1. Hatcher has the physical skills to be a great fit as the 3-4 DE. On paper his physical skill match that of Richard Seymour
2. Ferguson has been a disappointment at NT
3. Spears can get bigger. Remember BP wanted him to lose weight because he balloned up to 307 lbs

Maybe Parcells thinks that Spears can be moved to anchor the nose. He would have to put on a few pounds. Parcells likes his NT to be in the 305 range and Spears can easily reach that.

Canty - Spears - Hatcher
They have the prototype size that Parcells likes in the 3-4. Spears doesn't rush the passer very well, but he does stop the run. Thoughts??

Wasn't there a thread on this already?

How about reading what's been posted already instead of rehashing the same things???

Sorry man. I went to sleep POed. I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking about that Hatcher pick. I didn't see the thread that already brought up this subject. Trying to look on the bright side, I thought about the possibility of moving Spears to NT.

Marcus Spears finished the season as our very best DE...that's a fact...no way he's being moved to NT to split time with Ferguson.

WE're still currently looking at Ferguson and Johnson at NT and Canty, Spears, and Ellis at DE....Hatcher and Ratliff will fight over who's active on game day for occasional PT.

Why not?? Spears could be our very best DT by the end of next year as well. He is not too tall and could make that transition alot easier than you think. Spears is a good player, I am not debating that. If Hatcher is better than Ferguson in the near future, you have to get your best three players on the field.

Spears can play some DT when Dallas shows a 4-3 look - which will be less and less as time goes by. he should become an excellent strong-side DE in the 3-4. i still love the pick he was at #20.

Let's wait until we know whether Spears, Canty and Hatcher can even play defensive end until we worry about having too many and moving one. Lots of rookies have looked good for a while but never pan out.
