Seems like just about everyone in the thread agrees that Newman is better.

LOL. AdamJT is everywhere.

You just have to wonder how people can say Trufant is quicker and has a better vertical.

Funny, though, Eagles fans seem pretty convinced about who is better.

Newman is a much better cover guy than Trufant. He gets beat alot more than T-New does...doesnt have Newman's speed or athleticism either

Newman is a 5 star CB, Trufant is a 3 1/2 to 4 star CB

he's a :star: :star: :star: :star: cb in my opinion. i think he has more talent than any other cb in the league and if he got more picks he would be a 5 star cb. but i gotta say his few picks this year were at crucial times and/or huge plays. pick6 against the jets, woulda been a pick6 against buffalo but it was a crucial point in the game, and the 1 against the deadskins. i think he had 1 more but i can't remember it.

Favre on the play when Nate Jones put the old man out of the game.

I dont even see where he's inconsistent...he's one of the best tackling CB's in the league

And it isn't like Dallas has had a decent pass rush the years Newman was here...

Trufant is younger..... and Newman might be not economical to resign due to his age.

So maybe he is better, to sign anyway

When both these players were coming out, I thought that Trufant was the better value. I had them graded very closely with Newman having a very slight edge in over all athleticisam. I thought that Trufant's technique was better. Today, I have to say that they are still very close IMO. I would pick Newman over Trufant now because I think that Newman has had time to improve on his technique. However, I don't think you can go wrong with either player. Both have proven to be very good CBs in the NFL, IMO.

I am a Cowboy fan who lives in Seattle so I see Trufant and Newman almost every week. CB's from a fan point of view are pretty hard to judge because the only time you see them is when they are breaking up a pass, getting a pick, getting beat or missing a tackle. Most of the time you don't see them blanketing a WR or the help they did or didn't get from the Safety.

Trufant is a top 10 CB in this league and so is Newman in my opinion. Newman might be a hair better in coverage, but Trufant can cover the bigger WR's, stays healthier, and is better in run support. If I had to start a team today I would pick Trufant because of age, but for one season it is a tough decision. I think it would depend on how you use your corners.
