I would like to see Rod's scheme with some better talent to work with.

You could have all stars everywhere....and your not gonna get a pass rush by sending only 3 players. That's ole Ron's Azz hat scheme right there.

I never want to see us rush just 3 guys ever again. We always get burned:banghead:

Ok I have never seen a teams defense criticized year after year , and yet the DC is considered
by team and most fans to be a great coach.
I think now that they let the secondary go, the team is committed now to Maranelli
for the next 5 years at least.
The players we draft are going to be guys he wants? or the types he wants, so it seems like
a waste if he isnt going to be here another 5 years.

He is getting old, so will his health hold up another 5?
Was it wise to commit to building a defense with a old def coach?

I think it might have been better to hire a young guy and build with and for him.
Let him pick the def guys we are about to draft and pickup.

only time will tell, but the bend dont break seems to me to be outdated.
Sometimes bending will beat you like in the GB playoff game, they didnt break they bent lol
and that was enough.
I'm not sure, Jim Johnson was great for the eagles, about the same age. Rod seems to be even more entergentic than any of our coaches, I worry about him sometimes, Coach Eb would be my next choice as DC. I think Rob will coach until he can't it's just in his blood, I just hope he stays healthy...maybe I'm the only one but I think this scheme fits our d.

Oh, come on. You know. We don't have the right players.

And fans have to learn to judge coaching jobs on a curve. If the talent is unequal, the performance is going to be unequal.

We're running a variation of what's been successful in SEA with better players for many years now. And scheme-wise Marinellis been pretty successful here, with limited talent.

The coaching staff is not an issue in Dallas. We need better defensive players across the board.

To be honest I like Rob. I just think the investments we made with our DE has killed us so far. Gregory is a pot head, Lawerence has back issues and Tapper has a huge question mark.

I like Marinelli but I've wondered the same thing. Is he really the right guy to coordinate a rebuilding defense? I don't know if he is or isn't but I've thought about it as well.

Oh my man..

He's like 73 now.

5 years has him coaching from an assisted living facility via the Internet.

No way.

Another 2 years and he's out the door.

Rob Ryan and his brother should be available.

A twofer.

Easy to tell the people who don't understand anything about the game by their judgment of Rod.

They probably still think we run a Tampa 2.

A lot of that has to do with lack of success. Hopefully that isn't the same with Garrett considering he will have such a young, talented offensive core for a minimal of four more years. After all, Garrett has been here for 9 years now? He was the "coach of the future" when we brought him in and for better or worse, The Joneses seem very content and patient with him.

During that span between Jimmy and Garrett, we didn't have two 12+ win seasons during a 3 year span either.

Garrett would have been fired from any other team by now. He is one of the longest tenured coaches in the NFL without any success to back it up...

He is 58-46 and 1-2 in the playoffs.

Ok?

That just proves my point even more. I was responding to a claim that none of our coaches will be here in five years, chances are Garrett will since the Joneses are very comfortable with him and want stability within the franchise. He already has a decade here and is still a young guy.

I don't know if he's fired from every other team. After the 3rd 8-8 season? Possibly but considering the roster was rebuilt almost entirely under his watch and he has been the coach/offensive coordinator for every season our aging quarterback has started might have bought him the right to finish his contract...then he went 12-4 and earned a new deal.

If Garrett doesn't put something together soon, Jones WILL fire him. He won't waste the talent of more young players on Garrett.

Another 5 years for either coordinator is unlikely. More likely they would be fired or get head coaching positions within that time frame.
