That can be good and bad. You can't bring in a talent and change everything for 1 player. If most of your players fit a scheme, it does no good to bring in just a talent especially on defense. Easier to do that on offense.

Misjudging talent is an understandable mistake. The strategic mistakes are killers. Taking Zeke over Ramsey was a strategic mistake. RB's have short careers, and are easy to find in later rounds. Elite CB's are precious.

The biggest mistake isn't who we took, it's who we didn't take. Jarron Reed instead of Jaylon. Fred Warner over Connor Williams. Trysten Hill over Thornhill.

You can argue about positional value all you want, but Z has been a good player. If taking him was a mistake, it pales mightily against many of the other odd/questionable/just bad decisions we've made on draft day.

It's pretty easy to look back at a draft in hindsight and see who you should have drafted. Drafting is an imperfect science. Every team mis-evaluates players. Yes, it's always better to more accurately predict a potential player's performance. Yes- the Cowboys need improve on this. But every team has hits and misses.

Strategic decisions are different. How will draft picks be allocated? How will the salary cap be allocated. How will contracts be awarded and structured. The team has made flat out mistakes in this area.

Taking Zeke was a catastrophic waste of an exceptionally high draft pick.
(I like the player BTW, and continue to believe he can still play at a high level)

Remember- the Jaguars recently traded Ramsey for TWO first round picks and a fourth round pick. What's Zeke's trade value? A second maybe?

Our defense is always piecemeal buildt.

The offence gets first pick and may get it again.

    Watch.

I hope not, not because he isn't great, but because the team doesn't currently need another TE.

I am absolutely not using hindsight. I've used only the guys I wanted and thought would be wise draft picks.

It's pretty easy to attempt to desperately and uselessly refute an idea using lies and incorrect assumptions. Might want to check first next time before throwing insults.

That would be very similar to taking Lamb. Good player and great value, but didn't make our team appreciably better due to WR already being a position of strength.

Ah yes the Cowboys mantra for the last 25 years. It was that other guy who’s no longer here’s fault. Now that he’s gone, we’ll be contenders this year. Rinse and repeat.

You take input from your coaches on qualities that prefer in your players.
But really, coaches are not scouts and should not be selecting the players

Excuse me? What insult have I used? I NEVER EVER insult anyone here. EVER.
Insults are a sign of weakness. Those with good arguments do not need to resort to insults.

Feel free to disagree with any opinion I have, but don't falsely accuse me.

    my gosh.....

And we had Jeff Heath as well.

Just loaded with defensive talent but they weren't enough to overcome the chokers in Romo and Dak
