Today he said something that actually made alot of sense to me today.

He was going over reads for Dak in todays game and how he's looking over the field and hitting the open guy. And even staying in the pocket on blitzing downs and hitting his target with guys in his face. And then comes with his point.

Dak is making them Romo plays and throws that he's been known for, but doing it without the Playaction or fakes. So the play doesnt take as long to develop and the defense doesnt really have time to adjust.

That makes so much sense.

Wait...what?

Dak barely had anyone within 5 feet of him most of the day.

Dak and the Cowboys use a lot of playaction and fakes. More than in the past.

What plays has Dak made "Romo plays and throws?"

I see Dak standing mostly with an eternity to throw and lots of playfakes and misdirection.

Are you referring to the NFL Gameday Highlights?

Not sure if I agree.

Dak is getting a tremendous amount of time in the pocket. I wonder what his snap to throw time is.

If he's referring to the segment that I saw, I didn't have that as a takeaway from Mooch's comments...what he said (again, in what I watched) is that Dak is STARTING TO GET BETTER at making throws in the pocket with people in his face (a la Romo) and not just relying on rollouts and play action, which, as you point out, are staples with him at QB.

He showed a play where Dak stood in the pocket against a 6-men blitz (heavy rush in his face) and hit Cole on a seam route for 19 yards, which is the play he referenced to make his point.

Unless there was other Mooch commentary being referenced, then I think my summary is a much closer summary of his comments.

Timing/efficiency where not themes he touched on whatsoever.

That makes more sense. That throw to Cole was nice, but he did the feet hop thing again. He needs to work on that so more throws like last week don't happen.

I remember a throw to Bease for like 20 yards while people were right in his face. I was surprised the ball made it. Other than that, I don't remember much pressure.

Agreed...here's the Mooch commentary to which I was referring...taken on my phone from a TV screen so forgive the quality...

Really he's just talking about Dak's growth into a more diversified passer...good stuff.

Yeah. If Mooch said no play-action then he's not actually watching the games. I'd love to see what percentage of throws is off play action. Has to be very high. Romo, on the other hand, did it much less.

In a recent interview, Madden said that even the hard working analysts do 1/100th the prep work of an actual coach. After you divide that time by the all the teams they cover, it's no wonder these TV guys are often inaccurate even when they have impressive resumes. I stopped listening to that stuff years ago.

yes that. i shouldve reread what i typed the last part is whats made so much sense to me. Ive had migraines allday so i saw it typed it and logged off.

my observation is the last part, in me seeing as the play isnt taking as long to make. And lowering the amount of risks in hits Dak will take. And Dak has been making good throws since week 2. He had a bad game last week.

Dak had some nice throws today, had a couple passes that zipped to Witten and one that was a nice precision pass to Beasley.

But it's the Browns, and they were starting a struggling rookie at QB. I'm glad they went with him instead of McCown. It's hard to evaluate anyone against the Browns, they are so bad.
