Will Ole Miss junior defensive end Marquis Haynes return for his senior season?
Haynes was non-committal following the Rebels' 55-20 loss to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Saturday.
"I have not," Haynes said.
There are some reports, however, that Haynes is leaning toward early leaving for the NFL.
"I guess I just...I don't know right now," said Haynes.
The Ole Miss defense was blitzed for 566 yards by Mississippi State on Saturday, 457 of which came on the ground. Haynes finished as the game's leading tackler with nine. It was a career high.
Whether he elects to return or not, Haynes was asked his opinion of what has plagued the Rebel defense this season.
"I think we just need better expectations," he said. "We can;t just take this loss, keep it down and let us burn us. We've got to keep getting better, keep getting the chemistry."
Surprisingly, Haynes said he did not know defensive coordinator Dave Wommack had announced his retirement before the game.
"I really didn't find out until just now when you just told me," said Haynes.
"Coach Wommack, I know he's old and stuff, but he's been like an uncle to me. I go in his office and talk to him and stuff. To me, that's one of the best college coaches on defense in the world to me. Knowing that he's not going to be here no more...I've just got to find yself someone else's room to go to and go talk to them."
