These are very serious issues. Without question.

So what are you proposing? That they let the guy off because weed isn't as bad as other things?

Should they just do away with the rule because pot smokers can't seem to choose their million dollar jobs, that are only there for a very short amount of time in their lives, over smoking pot?

I find it incredibly hard to feel sorry for any of these athletes who can't get out of their own ways. They have all this talent, they're playing a kids game for a kings ransom, and they can't be bothered to not smoke pot long enough to make that kings ransom.

It makes zero sense.

The discussion was on the severity of the issues involved...I swear you guys can attempt to strain drama from a beet. The wrong of those actions have at no point been run from. In addition to serving on the end of personal rehab from the problems, I was also a MP in Germany. Just where do you think I stand?

I have been the recording clerk on a Chapter Elimination of an E7 who was chaptered out for failing a drug rehab. He took a single swallow at a Company formal dining in, when a broast was offered by all there. His time in service stopped after a single swallow. Now, where do YOU think I stand on issue of receiving corrective actions?

I already don't like how the media sensationalizes the conduct and public shame associated by individual misconduct. That is still what it is.

Ethicly, I can't run around because a player is in the NFL, and attempt to club him to death. That is an element of legitimate authority...not in the realm for fan brow beats, or even worse, incident levels of guilt transferal for someone making up comparative views. Not running from anything.

First off, I am a fan. That's not my job...but the media by me, is viewed as moraly depraved for the largest part. As to role models, players needing to vent using drugs, but not punished by law enforcement, are instead an element of their specific work environment. I don't have to initiate morale crusades or cast the negative shadow about, because a selective fan merely wants to claim that he himself has no issues with abuse, himself.

To me, that is no step above a pure brow beat. That leaves little for a sportsmanship view on things...but no, the wrong is still there.

Was this explanation really necessary for you to understand the directions that I was taking aside from another's imparting of a gossip level of approach?

I can't wait until it's legal nationwide to find out what the next thing will be for people to get irrationally upset about.

His agent said he is checking into rehab but he only was a coping problem.

He admitted to missing several tests and that is why it jumped to a 1yr ban.

that is what i figured once you are in the system for drugs or alcohol you get tested for both and missing a test is the same as failing a test.

End of discussion, this direction taken is as abstract as saying you would stay away from territorial aggressive predators if you just didn't care about having to eat at McDonalds.

Argue with yourself about self dignity and self worth...

I understood none of what you said.
But it's probably just as well.

I don't have to prove jack to you. In case, it is too hard for you to comprehend, I will try small words:

FACT: Marijuana is currently illegal in the majority of the states in this country.

FACT: Marijuana is currently illegal for players in the NFL to use.

Until either of the two above facts changes, pissing and moaning about the rules being unfair is a waste of time.

Agree.

Society needs to change but until it does you should follow the rules. Especially an NFL player that has teammates and a city depending on him. No excuse.

Find another way to deal with your depression. Like logging into your bank account.

It's not about that.

If the NFL says it illegal to eat bananas then don't eat a banana.

So basically...

"The NFL is irrational with their stance, don't do it and don't criticize it"

I'm not saying you meant not to criticize it, but it's been brought up at least once during this discussion. It should continue to be discussed since marijuana use is becoming more and more of a non-issue by the day.

You didn't have to explain anything. You're not required. I just asked a question. The only thing I got from this was two things I already knew from the way you post all the time. One you respond in a very arrogant, *******, manner to anyone not agreeing with you. So in turn I can either respond to you in such a way from now on as well, or simply ignore you. Likely I'll simply put you on ignore because people who respond with the tone, and manner in which you do, don't deserve others time.

Secondly you love to bring up your military career in every post you do that someone doesn't agree with you in. As if the fact that you were in the military some how means your opinion should be valued more or carry more weight on a subject.

I respect your service. As I respect the service of anyone who is brave enough to serve their country and defend it. That said it doesn't give your opinion more weight, or value, on any subject, let alone that of people who are seemingly too stupid to get out of their own way.

I am not on some crusade to get rid of this player, or any player. You don't see me picketing for the removal of the morons in the league. But when they get caught, and they get suspended, I do not feel sorry for them. They are not entitled to use drugs simply because they play sports. He doesn't NEED to vent by using drugs. That's ******** and a cop out for a very stupid person. He chooses to smoke pot. He doesn't have to, he doesn't need to, he wants to. And that's fine. I have no issue with him smoking pot, to be quite honest. To each their own on that.

But when these players choose to do so, and it costs them time and money in their jobs I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. It's their own doing and their own choice and therefor their own fault. Just like I don't feel the least bit sorry for the person who decides to get behind the wheel of a car, after drinking, and gets pulled over and given a DUI, fined, loses their license, or any of the other things that happen to them when they choose to do that.

It's not a moral high ground. It's not about being a great person or a smarter person, or any of that. I'm not a great person. I'm not the smartest person on the planet. I love to drink beer and have a good time. But you know what? In 36 years on this earth I've still managed, despite loving to drink beer, to never drink and drive. Shocking, I know, that it's possible for someone to choose not to be a moron.

If I smoked pot I would do so happily but I wouldn't do so if it was going to cost me my job and therefor livelihood. Once again it's not because I'm better than all the other people in the world its simply that I'm not a moron and I realize I have responsibilities and bills that come before just doing whatever the hell I want to. It's a choice.

Some people make the correct choices because they can be bothered to think more than 10 minutes into their future and some people can't be bothered to do anything other than what they want to do right then and there. When you make the wrong choice, as Bryant has done, and it costs you I don't feel bad for you. I don't say poor you. I don't say the media and the sport and the world is so mean and picking on you. I call it how it is. You're an idiot who doesn't think and you did this to yourself.

And that's the last we'll discuss this, or any other subject, because I have no interest in seeing your response to anything at this point. Good day, God bless, and thank you for your commitment to the country.

Exactly.

It's very simple.

They have rules in place, that you have to follow, in order to be a part of that job. Just like any other job out there.

If you want to be part of that job you follow the rules or you pay the consequences of your actions.

If people have a problem with the rule itself, I don't have an issue with that. But the people who come in here and act like people should feel sorry for these players, because the NFL is just mean and wont let them live their lives, is silly.

The rule is there. It's been there. It's nothing new. It's a very simple matter of following it.

Do you like every rule, procedure, and regulation that is in place at your job? I doubt it. I know I don't. They have tons of rules where I work that I think are stupid, have no place in the work place, and are just flat out annoying. But I follow them, as do the other employees here, because they're the rules that have to be followed as part of my employment here. No one is making me follow these rules I don't like. I am free to leave this job, and get a different one, anytime I want to.

If Bryant would rather smoke pot then play football he is free to choose to do that.

And again, I have never said the rule shouldn't be enforced. You know, you can say this: Gregory and Bryant are morons and the rule sucks. You can do both.

I have far more issues with players out drinking during the offseason than players smoking pot while they play Madden on their Xbox.

Fair enough. I certainly can understand that stance.

Assumption on reason...you just didn't grasp. As to values underlying the directions taken...not enough time on the block to appreciate the causes for motivations.

Content, was directed at base discussion, not personal...but carry on, and a term in the sixties, this intended...straight ahead guy.

The NFL officially is against using marijuana, but they make it easy to pass the testing procedures. So easy that if you do get caught or get caught multiple times you deserve to get punished. Failing an NFL drug test is just carelessness or stupidity.
