anyone thinking a second tight end is going to get that many passes coming his way is dreaming. As long as Dez and Witten and Austin are in the game, no one else is going to get more than a handful coming his way.

Is marty B a good example? He is a way better blocker than anyone we have on our roster now and he also lost Romo's trust long time ago to be a factor in the passing game.

More accurately, the Giants offered him nothing.

And Chicago went nuts over Barber, Roy, and Hurd, too.

I think we can now [End Thread! /]

You do know that they choose what to show to fit a storyline, right? This isn't some random sampling of whatever Bennett over that time period that would be representative of his approach. The storyline was about Bennett unmotivated and lazy so that is what you get shown.

So the fact that he acted disinterested and non coachable due to his own actions should be ignored? Who has the agenda here?

If you watched 20% of his practices and he always appeared that way, then you might have a point. But you are watching a tiny tiny bit of material from a show that is picking and choosing pieces to make a story.

I really don't think that Bennett's motivations was the problem here -- you have to be pretty motivated to block the way he did.

Was he a wasted 2nd round pick? Sure. He just didn't pan out and didn't really grow out of his immaturity - but honestly you can't blame a team for betting that the 21 year old they drafted is going to mature b/c young men often do that.

You really owe it to yourself to go watch the old Hard Knocks series that I am referring to if you haven't seen it recently. It was pretty enlightening to me.

Marty B. had issues. You can characterize them however you prefer (mental lapses, lack of coachability, character issues or whatever) but the reason he didn't excel in the passing game here or New York was on him ... not Garrett. His failure to fulfill expectations was on him and not someone else.

Whether Garrett is successful with the 12 or 13 packages, or uses them properly, or develops Esocbar or Hanna are totally separate and distinct issues from whether Marty B. fulfilled expectations or had other issues.

I guess I'll be the first to say it.

He was just a young kid like all other kids his age, right?

He grew tired of his role in Dallas quickly. He didn't care for having to block all the time and got frustrated that the ball never came his way. Because he was so good at blocking, Dallas had him babysit one of the tackles.
the ball did come his way, he just dropped it:D

Yes. How someone performed as a 21 year old in his first taste of pro action as represented by a reality TV program and all of the editing used to tell a particular story is something that I really should take as relevant.

Didn't excel anywhere? I think most teams would take 55 catches for 626 yards and 5 TDs as a good season for a tight end.
