And Chicago went nuts over Barber, Roy, and Hurd, too.

I really don't think that Bennett's motivations was the problem here -- you have to be pretty motivated to block the way he did.
Was he a wasted 2nd round pick? Sure. He just didn't pan out and didn't really grow out of his immaturity - but honestly you can't blame a team for betting that the 21 year old they drafted is going to mature b/c young men often do that.
the ball did come his way, he just dropped itHoofbite;5094625 said:I guess I'll be the first to say it.
He was just a young kid like all other kids his age, right?
He grew tired of his role in Dallas quickly. He didn't care for having to block all the time and got frustrated that the ball never came his way. Because he was so good at blocking, Dallas had him babysit one of the tackles.

Verdict;5096297 said:Marty B. had issues. You can characterize them however you prefer (mental lapses, lack of coachability, character issues or whatever) but the reason he didn't excel in the passing game here or New York was on him ... not Garrett. His failure to fulfill expectations was on him and not someone else.
Whether Garrett is successful with the 12 or 13 packages, or uses them properly, or develops Esocbar or Hanna are totally separate and distinct issues from whether Marty B. fulfilled expectations or had other issues.
