He has been good as a blocker for the most part. I'm ok with his production for now. We haven't exactly needed him. Give him time. Becoming a receiver is the NFL isn't exactly the easiest thing to do.

There has been several top flight WRs coming into the NFL only to become busts. Many many very good running backs never become receiving threats. VERY few TEs become serious receiving threats. Look around, over half the teams in the NFL don't have a serious receiving threat at TE.

Roy Williams. Martellus Bennett.

"Well at least they can block."

If someone stated before the year they would have expected or been satisfied with this, they would have suffered a message board beat down.

I give Bennett a pass, Roy I'm ready to park his *** on the bench. Roy is a proven WR. He has done it. Bennett is still in his second season.

I really thought this was going to be Marty B's year. He still has time to get himself together for next year, though.

However, this happens all the time. Remember all the guys Bill Parcells use to hype up during Training Camp and wouldn't do squat during the Season?

I never really completely understood the hype for Martellus Bennett, especially given the fact that #82 was still on the roster but I had very high hopes for Roy Williams.

Bennet is blocking good, yeah Philips is making the catches but I havent seen him that much in the blocking part of the game yet.

I can live with a down season from a second-year player, especially one who fought injuries. The proof is often in the third year.

Roy has none of these excuses, though.

Phillips' catches very well could come down to defenses not respecting him as an option. I'm pretty sure if they thought he could do real damage, they would shut him down. Bennett gets a lot more defensive attention on the field than Phillips does.

The problem is during TC we got this huge hype train going about how Marty B was going to be a weapon this season, but the reality of it is a 2nd string TE is never going to put up big numbers for you. If you're running a 2 TE set, you're probably running the ball more than throwing it.

I used to go into every game this year thinking it would be Marty or Roy's break out performance.

Now, they're an afterthought.

I think it's telling that we designed that deep pass to Ogletree on Saturday, and don't even give Roy a look.

Regarding Marty, I really think if he were on another team, and was the focus guy, then he'd do really well. See Fred Davis in Washington for an example. I don't think Marty is motivated by his role. That isn't me excusing his (lack of) production. Just stating what I think is holding him back.

Jason Witten appears to be open "all" the time.

Not trying to compare him to Jason Witten but maybe Phillips has a little more ability then we know right now.

Dont think Marty B applies himself like he should. Too may distractions. He should spend more time emulating his future HOF counter part, than acting a fool.

15 catches isn't too bad when you consider he also had 100,000 Tweets.

Actually if i'm not mistaken, Phillips strength coming out of college was his blocking ability.

I never really completely understood the hype for Martellus Bennett, especially given the fact that #82 was still on the roster but I had very high hopes for Roy Williams.

Coach Parcells used that as a motivational tool for the most part. He would even do that to other teams. I still recall press conferences where he would butter up second string backs like Verron Haynes. That is much different from the Martellus Bennett hype.

We had legitimate high expectations for him. And after he flashed some leg in the preseason, a lot of people got overly excited. It got bigger after there was the idea a lot of blown coverages in the Tampa game were to teams over-reacting to him even being in the game. Then each week as he made more and more mistakes and was rendered irrelevant, people started scratching their heads. Fact is, he has not progressed much if any this season. He is still a tease. It is not about not getting opportunities. He has blown most of the ones he has. If you think John Phillips is a more dependable player, it is because he is progressing. Bennett is about the same or even regressing.

Put it this way, if he was not hyped, we would never have had the privilege of seeing him in Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader drag in Jerry's Papa John's commercial.

Both guys will be back next year and the coaching staff will focus on them contributing.

With Brewster finally playing, and Free showing he can play, the line should have some consistency.

Flozell made 14 million this year. Say good-bye.

So for the offense, the two major issues will be Bennett and Williams.

And a two-peat.
