This is actually some of the best content I've seen in the offseason lull.

And it came from Marty B.

Up is down

A combination of maturation and regret. Coming out of college he didn't have the best attitude, particularly when it came to coaching.

He obviously improved in that area, he would have to if he were to play for the Patriots.

He had great skills and potential as a draft pick. If Witten never existed I think he could have been an early star.

Why am I not surprised that him and TO were good friends

It seems like he eventually rubbed off on all quarterbacks the wrong way. Besides that----it seems that most everyone was okay with TO. I seem to recall most of the rumors circulating before TO's release was that Romo/Witten were privately drawing up plays and that rubbed off on TO and other players the wrong way. Several players rushed to defend TO when he was released.

I'll never get how some Cowboy fans dislike TO. If you hated the star thing and you were consistent during his time here...I respect that. Being a fan of this team for the past two decades---we haven't even been to a conference championship. All we have is specific players or seasons that provided some good times and great entertainment. The 2007 Romo/TO connection is arguably the most prolific QB/WR season in Cowboys history, I enjoyed cheering him on that season and being amazed at how great of a player he was.

I doubt it. He has been with four teams, and despite all-world talent, all got tired of his act and let him go. His attitude will always make him a player you tolerate because of his talent. But when his contract is up, you can't wait for him to leave and be another team's headache.

I honestly never hated TO either. I actually liked him a lot. It's just that he has an erratic personality and so does Bennett so that's why I figured they would've gotten along well. I really did enjoy TO's time here in Dallas, probably my second favorite player during that era behind D-Ware.

Bennett was an important cog in the Patriots Super Bowl run, though of course some people here will never accept that. Brady doesn't target you 73 times if he thinks you're unreliable, and Bennett had a higher catch % than almost every other Patriots receiver or tight end in 2016. He was money for them.

He was clutch in the Super Bowl too. Caught 5 passes on 6 targets for 62 yards and drew the PI in overtime that put them on the 2 yard line.

But I still bet they will let him go next chance they get. he is just too high maintenance

Jerry Jones helped me out a lot too. I will always have love for Jerry. I remember having tea with him one day. I was like ***.
I never forgot those conversations. Or that time he came on the team bus and was like where the **** is martellus. Hahaha.
I didn't really understand a lot of stuff that was happening in the moments that they did. But as I look back I appreciate it all more
Jerry has a sick collection of silverware. Some real rich people ****.

Leonard Davis and Andre Gurode were beast. I learned a lot about blocking from them.
Marc Colombo was great too. As a rookie I didn't know much early on but he would just point and say block him knowing I would get it done.

About 3 years ago I finally got some **** that @tonyromo would tell me. "Be urgent but don't rush" I told a young guy that one day.
And I was like ohhhhh that's what Romo meant. Hahahaha lol. To me urgent and rushing meant the same thing. Had no idea what he meant till That day.

Day. I use to be like yo @DezBryant I'm not a QB bruh I can't throw this **** over the field back and forth. Left hand only. Behind the back Between the legs. Just wanted to catch the ball every way possible.

Wow good for him. Must give him his due. Never liked him , but I respect him now alot more.

He already left for Green Bay in March. He was asking for Gronk money...which he nearly got, 21 million over 3 years, 8 million in the 1st.

so the stories about Tony helping Dak and Witten helping others are lies?

Hmm, it's almost like you didn't actually read the entirety of what I wrote.

I'd be willing to bet that Tony helped Dak out WAY less than they want everyone to believe. I think Sanchez and Moore were way more beneficial to Dak's success that Tony was.

And I wouldn't blame Tony at all if he didn't want to help out. Just imagine the position he was in.

I agree, I don't think Tony did much by way of "coaching" Dak up. That's why Dak would always say Sanchez was the guy that was helping him the most. Not because Sanchez was more knowledgeable than Romo, but because Sanchez was at least trying to share some knowledge.

What Romo did to help the situation, was make it as drama free as possible. Which shows his loyalty to the staff and ownership more than anything.

Funny the amount of overlap between Bennett's list of fondly remembered Cowboys and my list of hated Cowboys from that other thread.

I've disliked Bennett from the moment rolled his eyes and laughed at coaches on Hard Knocks. That being said, it sounds like he's finally matured. Turning 30 will do that to you. He's probably seen his share of rookies come in acting a fool, and realized what a ******* he was back when he entered the league. The fact that he can now reflect on his days with the Cowboys and remember learning experiences and the people that helped him, makes me actually respect him a little bit.

Nice of him to have kind words about Witten, after crying like a baby about him not holding his hand & showing him how to play his position. It irks me that he has a ring & Witten doesn't but at least he didn't get the Game Winning score in the Super Bowl, even though they tried real hard to make that happen.

Hes going to be right up there with Gronk, Kelce, and Olsen in fantasy drafts league wide this year

Witten is probably like that with a lot of players who did not relate to him.

Like many head coaches. A lot of the time you see players say things like this later on that they learned a lot from them, even though they despised them when living in that moment alongside them.
