Martin isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
DeMarcus Ware
+ Larry AllenDeMarcus Ware
His performance didn't match his contract demands - at least IMO. Did he even have double digit sacks his last year here? Can't remember, but he was not THE D-Ware we knew and loved his last year here.
Non-Issue. Jerry has not lost one player he wanted to retain.
what makes you think that?Im guessing we wont hear fans advocate for a hometown discount like they did for other players we've had some contract issues with
We don't need hardly any cap space to sign Martin long termDallas most likely needs more cap space to sign him then they probably have right now. Maybe Dallas isn't close to what he knows he can get.
Only difference is the first contract. If you grabbed a guy as an UDFA and he performed at all pro levels His next contract will be at all pro level. That was the one caveat to drafting an Oline full of 1st round selections (that happened to pan out well) is that they are going to cost us in the long run.
Wrong.
Dallas never made an offer to DeMarcus Ware to take a pay cut because they didn't want to insult him with what could be perceived as a lowball offer.
Ware was willing to take less.
The Cowboys decided it was best to part ways and let Ware go find the best opportunity to reach a Super Bowl.
Ware reportedly wanted a decision made on his future before free agency began, and the Cowboys weren’t going to have him play on his current deal.
The Cowboys wanted to keep him for the 2014 season, but only at a reduced rate. His cap hit in 2014 would have been twice what it was the year prior. His base salary was just $840,000 and his cap hit was $8 million in 2013.
Per a source, former Pro Bowl defenseive end DeMarcus Ware doesn't want to take a pay cut but will listen to the Dallas Cowboys thoughts about a reduced deal.
As of last week, the Dallas Cowboys had not asked All-Pro pass rusher DeMarcus Ware to accept a pay cut.
That's no longer the case.
A person informed of the Cowboys' thinking has told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport that the team contacted Ware on Tuesday to pass along the message that they "definitely" want to keep him -- but not at his current salary of $13 million per year.
They could have restructured him and saved even more than cutting him and retained his services
Everyone thought (correctly) that he was done as a 4-3 DE with a 10m+ salary
