I agree but assume they will make an inhouse hire to stabilize the situation. I'm thinking it will probably be Pagona as DC and they bring in Norv or maybe Green unless they go after Pete Carroll or another high profiler with previous NFL coaching experience. On the other hand who knows. Firing a guy who just took you to a 14-2 record is weird. Don't know much about relationship with Shotenheimer & Smith except it very strained. Didn't watch SD loss to Indy but wasn't it caused by 4 turnovers so how could Shot be respnsible. On other hand I did hear about some poor playcalling so who knows but SD players got to be disgusted about the situation. Hope there some way the Cowboys benefit.

I just read the DMN articles which identifies Pagono and Stewart as the 2 coaches Phillips was interested in. I really doubt either will be named HC but one certainly will become DC with SD still retaining the other defensive coach. So unless something dramatic happens doubt unfortunately we will get a shot at either, but if I'm Phillips I might just be tempted to wait a little to see what shakes out.

Phillips was interested in Stewart and Pagano because of their experience with the 3-4 defense.

Yes, I agree. I don't see San Diego giving permission to Dallas to try and sign either. And as stated, they, Pagano and Stewart will most likely be given a promotion.
Sucks....but this is what happens when you have to hire a HC later in the offseason.
If San Diego hires Green, I would be lauging up a hill! I don't understand why they would even consider Green. Maybe because it's so late in the game.
Dumb move by SMith in my opinion. Should have just dealt with it until after the year to keep some contininuity.
