Matt Bryant will be our kicker next week

Tampa has 2 kickers doing really well. Bryant looks like he may be cut and he's kicking great so far. Parcells will jump on him as soon as he's released. He'll be kicking for us against SD.

It's been a heated battle. Bryant hit a 52-yarder tonight to finish the preseason 4 of 5.

France finished the preseason 4 of 4, including a 46- and a 49-yarder.

Chucky can't keep'em both.

If Bryant is released, then I think you are right on the money.
Matt Bryant is more experienced though so I think Tampa keeps him.

In fact, I would rather have either one over Cundiff.

now that i think about it...... bryant didn't beat out cundiff a few years ago because of a leg injury.... just like cundiff this year.

Aaron Elling and Paul Edinger were battling it out but Elling seems to have disappeared last week. Neither one looks as good as the guys in Tampa.

In the first preseason game they both went 1-1 on field goals. Elling had two extra points while Edinger had one. In week 2 neither had a field goal attempt. This time Edinger had 2 extra points while Elling had only one.

Last week, though, Elling didn't show up in the box score -- looks to be suffering from a strained right hip (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=2148406). Meanwhile Edinger went 4-4 on field goals (25, 30, 50, 20) and 1-1 on extra points. Looks like Edinger has won the job.

Last season Edinger was an awful 8 for 12 under 40 yards and 7 for 12 over 50. For his career he is 55 for 68 under 40 and 53 for 76 over 40.

Elling had only three attempts last season (1 for 2) and for his career is 14 for 17 under 40 yards and 5 for 10 over 40.

I don't think I've seen a kickoff YET that didn't go into the endzone, and he's been pretty darned good with the field goals. I'm not saying I'm not interested in Bryant, but it's not like Cortez has stunk up the joint either. Give him a break.

I was checking out the Tampa Bay board yesterday to see which of their kickers might get released and found this thread. The majority of Buc fans seem to prefer keeping France over Bryant. Now, this might change after Bryant's 52 yarder tonight, but France has looked real good so far too.

I really hope Bryant is wearing the star next week.
