This one. It's from a couple of weeks ago.

How the heck did I miss that? Thanks for finding it.

Yeah, this staff--for better or worse--seems to really like their prospects at S right now. I sure how they're right, because it's a position that's just kneecapped us for years now.

They like Wilcox. Johnson too, for that matter.

FWIW, Johnson's measurable are slightly better across the board...bigger/taller, stronger, faster, quicker.
But Wilcox gets the edge now though for sure, with one full year under his belt.

FYI, JJ can cover man to man.

Nice tidbit. I don't recall Matt's injuries--how they happened--very clearly, but I thought they were less the result of big collisions and more just niggling soft tissue things that would not clear up. I guess we'll see pretty soon here whether it was a run of really bad luck or an undeniable trend.

He had a torn biceps in college. The coach said he was one of those that would do anything (S, LB, ST's), played in all packages. Gotta love guys like that, but you'd like for them to stay healthy, too.

You never know. Certainly at this point, I'm not expecting anything at all from him, so if he does stay healthy and contributes, it will be an added bonus as far as I'm concerned.

I really like his ability if he can stay healthy though.

I am late to the party, but just found this gem from JJ:

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that they didn’t need to grab a safety in the first few rounds because they still consider Matt Johnson “the equivalent to one of those draft picks up there.”

Apparently Donald Sterling isn't the only mentally incompetent owner in pro sports.

At this point, Johnson actually being a player in this league would be kind of like buying an extra value meal in the drive-through and discovering extra fries in your bag. Pleasant, yet unexpected.

You know where those fries came from, right?

Hint: check for shoe prints.......... ;)

The Cowboys roster has a Keith Smith, San Jose State as a Safety at 6-0, 199.

NFLDS has Keith Smith, San Jose State as an ILB at 6-0, 233 per his Pro Day.

I read Keith Smith's twitter and he said he's a safety now.

Camp body...

Speaking of rookie safeties named Smith, I wonder if anyone drafted Hakeem Smith out of Louisville

JJ Wilcox is a natural SS, and Hamilton doesn't have near the upside or instincts that Johnson has.

I used to think this but then I saw JJ read plays and routes coming at him. Him peeling off from helping outside to make the tip in the end zone preventing a TD against Desean Jackson out of cover 2 well done.

When did Cowboys fans become such haters? It's not like it's his fault he's getting hurt. I am sure he wants to be out there playing more than anybody else. I root for these under dogs to succeed and you all should to.

The Cowboys have a rich history filled with no name guys becoming really special players. Lay off the guy a little and hope for him to succeed. This negative crap talking isn't helping anybody and only makes you look hateful. Nobody thinks your little quips and puns are funny so just keep it to yourselves please.

You missed the point.

Did a player really lose 34 pounds since his Pro Day?

Is this guy some all world safety? If not why bother with him & all these injuries?

I thought he looked rusty last year before he got hurt, can only imagine what he will be like this year.

That is a completely understandable concern. My guess is he will have plenty of opportunities to get back into football shape before Sept.
