Yet if you have the chance to draft a FRANCHISE qb, you can't pass it up. IF, and I mean a big IF the Dallas scouts grades one of these rookie qbs a FRANCHISE qb, you got to draft him.

Agreed.

If the scouting staff believe one of these guys is a franchise guy, you do have to draft them.

I question if they feel any of the QB's is such a player.

That seems to be the million dollar question. We'll find out next month.

For we're really sticking with Kellen Moore as backup this season, it was foolish we didn't get him starting reps last season when Cassel was coughing up games for us.

If we're not sticking with Kellen at QB2, we better bring somebody in fast. Options are dwindling.

Well he'll have the advantage of being with the Cowboys for training camp and with Romo older and coming off injury, Moore will get a lot of reps.

Why even consider another problem? rationalizing away the arrest by implying it is a hick town is a reach.

The guy is not the super star that could warrant overlooking something as serious as this. The Cowboys have a history with drunk drivers and staying away from them should be a priority.

We don't know if he drove drunk, we know he was arrested for it. Blowing a .08 for a small town cop is a problem, but it may or may not reflect a serious character flaw. Getting pulled over in a town of 25,000 people may or may not be a serious issue. I'd rather know the details and legal disposition before I pass judgement on Prescott's character.

Reacting to it like he drove through a convention of Nuns at 100 mph is an overreaction. That is how La'el Collins drops out of the draft purely on rumors. This could be the same type of situation and we don't know the situation - hence my question.

That's true, at least. No substitute for live action though.

Dak just got arrested for a DUI.

He also died in the back of the snowspeeder when Luke Skywalker needed him to be his trigger man with taking out Empire walkers on Hoth. Pfft, and this is right after he bragged that he can take on the whole empire himself. I don't trust Dak, he put Luke in a very bad spot right on the battlefield, what makes anyone think he won't do that to Romo. Pass on Dak

Please provide some backup qb names Dallas could bring in. Or are you okay with Kellen Moore as the backup.

I am not real excited about the backup market but I don't see Matt Moore being any better than Kellen Moore. He has more experience for sure, but he hasn't played in a game in four years. I have watched him for a couple years in training camp in Miami and their preseason games....he makes a lot of rookie mistakes...was in the corner of the end zone that he threw a pick six to Patmon I believe it was two years ago. He's a jag.

If I had to pick up someone, I would consider TJ Yates, he has had more recent game experience than Moore. Maybe Ryan Lindley. Or Tarvaris Jackson. I would have considered Mark Sanchez.

I don't know that any of them are much of a step from Kellen Moore.

I don't think it is. Especially Wentz, Lynch or Prescott... They all need to learn a pro-style offense and being a QB that isn't in the shotgun all the time.

Wentz was Nader center a significant percentage of snaps. SDSU still ran a spread type offense, but there was a lot of pro-style influence incorporated into it. I read somewhere that Goff, meanwhile, did not take a single snap under center this past season.

I can assure you that Matt Moore is rated much higher here than he is anywhere else. Our fans only need to see a guy have success once and he can fail a million times and all they remember is the one time he did good. It's amazing.

Generalize much?

Against low-grade competition.

I watched Troy Aikman struggle mightily his rookie season and he was far more polished than any of these guys.

With all due respect, MW, you can't compare the two situations. Troy was going to start, regardless. Dallas isn't going to start a rookie QB next season, unless something drastic happens to both Romo and the #2. Aikman's struggles all related to the speed of the pro game, and nothing to the number of snaps he took under center.

Depends on the player. Romo can drag this team on his back and win games single handily years on end, but some fans only seem to remember his bad games.

Oh I agree with that. But you see, you've got folks here talking the opposite, i.e. taking a QB at #4 is going to BENEFIT this team in '16. And I'm saying "No way" and it probably won't benefit them in '17 because I don't see any of these QB's being ready to take the baton after only a single year of study and taking reps as the #3 QB on the roster.

If we draft a qb with the 4th pick, I wonder if he'll be named the #2. I'm a k.moore fan, but if we go qb high, then i'd prefer we take another later and have him battle it out for the third spot in camp.

I think we'd probably keep the vet at #2 for a season. I agree, it's best to have competition for that job, too.
