Both Freddie and Steve are my 2 favorite voices.
Both amazingly unique voices.
I like Steve's voice a little more.
Yes I do as well. I think it's a shame what Journey did. And bringing in that Arnel guy was a joke. I remember watching the country music awards and he could not hit any notes and the dude from Rascal Flatts bailed him out.
It's crazy because they both put each other in bad positions. Journey was rushing steve into hip surgery and steve was like who the bleep are you or rush me. Splittsville.
The band had little choice.
Arnel is a great rags to riches story.
It's so odd, for a second he sounds a little like Perry, then he finishes off the rest of the word or note and he sounds worse than the worst karaoke singer.
I think at some point steve gets back with them, if not permanently, at least for some tour.
I want to see journey real bad, but simply could not see them with Arnel. Great story or not.
If you catch Journey doing anything live now Arnel's voice is getting drowned out by the instruments, totally opposite of what the songs they play should be.It's crazy because they both put each other in bad positions. Yeah it's a crazy story for sure. I don't blame Steve for how it went down. But sure it's a great rags to riches story but he isn't that good. It's not like Rome playing with Sublime where he is just so good. I do wish and hope they get back together but it's very doubtful at this point

Would love to see them reunite but i don't know, Schon definitely has hard feelings about Perry getting bigger than the band back in the day, it was Schon's band after all even though Perry was the guy. I would imagine Perry would want Smith back on the drums and I don't know if Schon would like that since Smith wouldn't play with any other singer. Arnel was ok when he was trying to sing like Perry but he's gotten away from that and that ain't Journey.
Arnel said earlier this year that Journey is receptive to Perry coming back and he would step aside...
That being said, after the Frontiers album, Perry declared himself in charge and fired bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith. If you guys remember that's when American Idol's Randy Jackson became the bassist. From that point forward there was a great deal of tension in the band.
On an interesting side note, I live near Dripping Springs, TX (SW of Austin). Original Journey member Greg Rolie lives here and he frequents a local bar/restaurant with his wife. He can barely hear anymore and his wife welcomes people that come to their table so she has someone to talk to.
If it was Schon's band how did Perry do that? Just curious.... The inner turmoil with these bands... I tell ya.
I read a long piece on it a few years back. Schon and Perry used to co-write most everything, but Perry began refusing to record songs he didn't write solely. He used his leverage as the "face of Journey" to wield a big stick or else...
Not sure why all these bands can't get along. They seem to all have massive egos and therein lies the problem...
Here's a link to some of what I posted, but you can find roughly this same account in many places:
