But I have been impressed with Jacque Reeves, I think he has done very well as a nickel corner and with Henry coming back, I love the depth were gonna have next year in the secondary. Does anybody think Reeves can can play Free Safety?

I don't. Don't ask me why cause I don't know. I can't give you any interesting fact why he doesn't impress me either. I think it's because is first name his Jacque.

Reeves has a future because he flat out is FAST.

Makes up for a lot sometimes.

True. But don't you agree that free safety position has to be a homerun. We can't afford average any longer.

I think Reeves did a pretty good job filling in this past weekend. As for playing safety I don't know if he can or not, it is not a natural position for him and what I would like to see is Dallas get players and have them play their natural position not try to fit someone in a position they are not familiar with.

Thats what I was wondering can he tackle because he seems to have the speed and coverage ability needed to play safety. The Kid looks like a player this year I think he could use more time on the feild.

This guy has played when needed and has done a pretty decent job, has gained valuable expierence and will be a great backup.

I always thought he was a perfect developmental choice in the seventh. Anytime you can get a guy who is 6-0, almost 200 lbs, covered the wide side of the field in the Big 10, and won the Big 10 100m, you take a chance on a guy like that. Even if you just count how well he plays gunner on the punt team, he's been well worth it... If he becomes a solid corner, that's a bonus.

I'm not sure he quite has the quickness to be a really good corner, so I've wondered like the other guys why he couldn't be tried at safety. He seems tough enough and a good enough tackler on special teams... But then on the other hand, it's a good thing we kept him where he was with Henry out for so long. :)

No.....good post......I also have noticed the considerable improvement in the play of Reeves. He seems much more confident in his assignements and he is starting to get a little swagger on the field.

Yeah, I made a post about this right after the game Sunday. I really didnt like the guy and thought we should have kept Lance Frazier.

This guy has really had a nice but quiet season.

On one play in particular during the game against Carolina, he was left one on one with their fastest receiver (cant remember his name) and Delhomme threw a perfectly thrown bomb to him and Jaques Reeves broke the play up.

Yeah, I know that is what he is suppose to do, but that is a pleasant surprise from the Roasty Toasty days of 2004.

He made a play in the KC game too, I just cant recall what he did.

That is why I still think Henry is the best member of our Secondary. His play had a domino effecton everybody..

I liked Reeves when he played last year too. Even though he gave up a lot of catches, he was always close/near by.

I didn't see the Panthers game, but I do like Reeves as a solid backup type for a few years

I think he has looked pretty good recently too, but just because you can cover and hit does not mean he will be a good FS.

FS is more of a read and react position not a true cover position. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you have man coverage, but that is not where we are neccessarily lacking. It is that deep cover where you really have to recat to the right place and make a move on the ball.

Yep, as a rookie that should be acceptable, especially as a 7th round pick, just to be in the position to make a play. Making the play should come with experience.

I think when he becomes a UFA, some team is going to offer him a lot of money to be a starting CB.

I know some people think that CB and FS are just musical chair positions, but they're really not.

I think Reeves has been excellent this year. I think they should leave him at corner until he proves he can't do it long term --- then move him to FS if necessary.

WE should make this guy an offer now, I'm just an amateur but I'm like you he made some plays last game when it counted, everybody was groaning when we lost Henry but honestly this guy can start for somebody as a number two corner, maybe not shutdown but definently in this league he can play....

Next year Reeves will be in his 3rd with the Cowboys and you knew what Parcells expects from 3rd players. Would like to bring Aaron Glenn back again for 1 more year but concerned that limits the playing times Reeves needs to develop. Parcells might have to make tough decision to sign Glenn again to in the slot or move Reeves into that job. Best scenario has Glenn singing for 1 more year w/ understanding he & Reeves rotate slot play & maybe each becomes principal backup to a starter. Gives Reeves the playing time he needs to improve & provides 4 deep good depth CB. Don't know who our 5th CB is/will be.

Oh yeah, I definately want Glenn back. I think he will sign anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Reeves along with Nate Jones get some time practicing at FS during training camp and the beginning of the season. Beriault went down for good and wasn't practicing much anyhow and Pile wasn't here yet. I thought I remember BP talking about this during his PC's late in TC and/or early in the season.
