Maybe Romo can be fully appreciated now

Who are these teams, SD?

Denver right now, maybe. But they are aging and may not be there in 2-3 years when Dak is available.
I would've said Houston, but hey found their guy.
Jacksonville? yes, they fit the bill. Lot's of young talent on both sides of the ball and no franchise QB. But would Dak really want to play for Jacksonville?
Maybe the Steelers when Ben hangs it up soon. Ughh. That is scary:banghead:

That's it. No other teams seem fully SB ready but with no QB.
I'd maybe add the vikings in there, and to a lesser extent the Cardinals. Or heck, by the time Dak's contract is up, maybe the Giants. There are plenty of teams with top tier defenses that need a QB.

I'll be very interested to see if Dak chooses to re-sign here if things don't turn around, or if he'll get his new monster contract elsewhere. It may be smart for him to choose the latter.
Both Dak and Zeke will be restricted free agents after the 2019-2020 season. The Cowboys own their futures for the at least 6 seasons after this one. Unless I'm mistaken, they can sign where ever they want in 2020 and the Cowboys can match. The only reason they are not here for the foreseeable future is a lack of money by the cowboys, or a trade.

fwiw
Need an oline too though. A QB can't hold up without that.

Does Romo play defense? Dak played well yesterday and I don't think Romo wins that game. In fact I'm sure that Romo would be on IR by now with the poor line play.
You're probably right about the winning the game part.

I'd bet my house though that, had the game unfolded exactly as it did but with Romo playing instead of Dak there would be a large contingent here blaming him for the loss.

Yeah, some blamed Romo here.

But I think for many it's was a case of simply not being able to put all the pieces together at one time in order to create something special.

Winning constantly in the NFL and making deep runs into the playoffs year after year is incredibly difficult.
Yup...we're a 20+ year work-in-progress...

Not going to happen.

I've always had Romo on the same level as Roethlisberger. But Roethlisberger got 2 rings with strong defenses and a coaching staff that was committed to the running game to help preserve the defense and to set up the big pass plays.

Romo was far from infallible. He wasn't a good short passer, he over-audibled which causes problems on the O-Line and made the offensive pace way too slow. But, he only had Linehan coaching the offense for 1 year and we still have the same issues on defense.

Hell, I will argue that the defense is far WORSE with Dak than it was under Romo because our offense is now far more efficient at scoring (points per drive) and eating up the clock. And we turn the ball over far less in our territory with Dak than we did with Romo. And our defense STILL cannot stop anybody.

Green Bay essentially scored 28 points off of 7 drives and should have been 31 points off of 7 drives (due to missed PAT's and having to go for 2 due to the missed PAT's).

That's an effective 4.43 points allowed per drive. Last year, the worst team in the NFL in points allowed per drive was the Saints (funny how people want Sean Payton here) at 2.50 points allowed per drive. That's 77% worse than the Saints last season.

Dak was sensational in the playoff game.

True but if I remember correctly, our defense was playing pretty decent at the beginning of the game and our offense was pretty slow.

Now had it been a Romo lead offense at the time with the way our D started off, we would have probably put up some points and force GB to play catch up.

Hopefully, all of those who believed that Romo was part of the problem with Dallas not getting over the hump year after year can now see that he was not.

Yes, he had his moments where he failed and his bad games, but that's what happens when quarterbacks are constantly put into a position where they can't make any mistakes.

If Aaron Rodgers had been our quarterback Sunday, I guarantee that all we would be talking about is how his overthrow on the two-point attempt had cost us the game. That's life for a quarterback in Dallas, especially under Garrett. This team failed Romo over and over again and messed up what should have been a Hall-of-Fame career. Now, it's doing the same to Dak, who has played well enough for the team to be 4-1 right now if the defense was any good.

Over and over again, we've seen our quarterbacks make some fantastic plays to give this team a chance and over and over again, it hasn't been enough because this front office has failed them over and over again.
This is a little fictitious I'f I may say so and I apologize but I dont know of any who blamed Romo.
His early years were frustrating and heady but we all eventually saw him for what he was. MO

Hey, I hope you're right, my friend.

No reason to hope.

He'll be paid so much and at the very worst, which I don't see happening, he'll be franchised.

And it's tough to walk away from this organization. With the stardom of playing on the team comes more endorsement opportunities. And living in Texas is cheaper and no state income tax.

It just ain't happening.
