It would a couple years worth of #1's.

They would have to offer significantly more then what the Rams got in the RG3 trade

Denver has no interest in drafting a QB at the top and struggling with a rookie for a couple years.
They won the SB and rented a number of veteran players. They are still in the "win now" situation.

A counteroffer.
Might upset the Romo fans, though.

Dallas trades Romo to Denver.
Elway/Denver has a championship caliber roster & all they need is a established QB veteran who will not make mistakes and "drive the bus."
It allows Denver to remain competitive for another championship run with a older wiser QB at the helm.
Elway did sign Manning in 2012 and has an affinity for solid veteran QB's.
Romo's contract should not be an obstacle in such a scenario.

In return, Dallas receives necessary draft picks and future considerations necessary to facilitate the rebuilding phase of the Cowboys.
Think of it as a very reduced version of the Walker trade in 89'.
But, nonetheless every side wins.
Denver will have a responsible shot of repeating as Super Bowl champions, Dallas gets draft picks for rebuilding, & the Romo fans can cheer for his success in Denver.

It is a win-win.
Come on Jerry, think big and start calling Elway.

Send Witten too.. That way Witten and Romo, along with Ware, will have the Superbowl they deserve.

While I like the 'out of the box' thinking, I think Romo's contract makes it impossible for the Cowboys to trade him.

It looks like a cal hit of $31 million if they did.

Not only next years first, but the 2 years afterwards also. Remember the Redakins gave up 2 first rounders and they only went up 4 spots.

They do need a QB now

If the Bronco's were willing to do that, then it would tell you what they think about said QB and maybe just maybe we might be better off drafting said QB ourselves because it won't be long before the current incumbent is gone.

They will take Connor Cook with the 31st pick in the first round.
