We have the cap room.

We could stick it to them for Murray and have the best 2nd string OL in history.

Mathis wouldn't get on the field. He's a more expensive Mackenzy Bernadeau.

Actually, none of the Eagles linemen, including the guys they still have, would start on this line. Not being cocky, just stating a fact.

I don't know. Most rate him higher than Leary.

I would just to see the reactions from other teams in the league.

(In whiny, childish voice):

"Rogerrrrrrr, the Cowboys are hogging the OLLLLL......they aren't sharing!!!!!!"

I gotta check you on that one brother. Mathis is good. He would start over Leary in a heartbeat

Peters would move to RT and start over Free.

Smith - Mathis - Frederick - Martin - Collins

That would be amazing... but we should probably invest our money elsewhere. Regardless of where Mathis goes it's good news for us that he got released. Makes Murray's job a little harder and will probably make our front office look a little smarter as well.

I decided to mosey on over to enemy territory and see all the moaning and groaning going on over on the Eagles website regarding the Mathis release. You know, to basque in the glory of some iggle frustration.

What did I find?

Nothing! I mean nada. Not even a mention! Crickets!

Guess the writers are afraid to touch this one.

We have cap room. Forget Dez.

There is already money allocated towards Dez Bryant.

I don't know how much sense this makes for us. Is he better than Leary? Absolutely he is. He also probably wants to be the best paid guard in football, which would probably put him at 9 million per year.

On the other hand you could put Collins at tackle and have

Smith - Mathis - Frederick - Martin - Collins

which would be a great offensive line, but how many more years do you get out of Mathis? 3-4 years, maybe 5 at an extremely expensive rate mind you. We basically have Leary this year, and have him for pretty limited money next year. You also have to consider the cost of Doug Free. If you sign Mathis, you absolutely have to cut Doug Free next year to compensate for the cost.

Well obviously that so called money isn't insicing enough for Dez to sign.

That is immaterial. Dez wants a long term contract, but that has nothing to do with the fact that his money is already allocated and has nothing to do with our cap space going forward.
