Mayowa Benched

This is not one of those Hayden arguments imo......I think RDavis is just a better option....just like McClain and Collins beat out Thornton....Mayowa has a couple sacks but they think RDavis can do better....it is not like they invested a ton of time or resources into Mayowa

I have no problem with the Cowboys taking a chance on a Benson Mayowa - it was a relatively low cost signing that had some upside. He needs a lot of work on using his hands, and also some needed time in the weight room. Missing on a Mayowa doesn't hurt the football team.....

....unless he was the only addition made to bolster the pass rush. This is where the Cowboys failed. Anyone expecting Mayowa to be a 10 sack per season player was crazy. It was doing nothing else to fortify the position that has caused the lack of pass rush that the Cowboys roll out each week.

You don't get them for 3yr/8m deals........Ben is a rotation piece that has done OK....he has 2 sacks and eats a lot of snaps....he can get better but we don't need to dump him to satisfy some itch to blow things up

Can't argue there!
Completely jumped the gun on the contract they gave him. He's next to invisible, both at tackle and end.
another one.......jeesh.....let's cut our best pass rusher becasue he isn't JJ Watt....guess what???...we didn't pay him 1/2 of JJWatt either

I really pray that Dallas will at least attempt to get a legit, proven pass rusher in here over the off-season. This "by committee" stuff doesn't work.

We could be a scary team if get a consistent pass rush.

A pass rusher will be our #1 need this offseason. Not having a consistent pass rush is likely to cost us in the playoffs.

He is 10th in the league with 15 hurries to go with his 3.5 sacks...he is our best DL with DLawrence closing the gap

That stat surprises me. I guess the lack of flash plays. I would definitely like to see a few more sacks and plays where he stuffs the run

D. Ware will be available and he is 35...

I'd love to have him here as a part time pass rush guy.

I wish we had him right now actually.

He is tied for 26th with 4 stuffed runs.....Sean Lee is tied for 13th with 5

They are 8-1. Hard to argue it not being "good enough".

They're not 8-1 because of that pass rush. They're 8-1 despite it. "Hard to argue" that fact.

They will once again go into the offseason and have to settle for a unknown guy or a 2nd or 3rd tier guy because teams aren't letting elite pass rushers go. Never mind that there's not very many to choose from.

I'm not advocating paying a huge contract for a defensive end, but a more concerted effort to finally correct this obvious issue via the draft. A better effort than using a 4th round pick on a player with a bad back who may never suit up.

If that means 'overpaying' in draft equity to do it? I'm fine with that. I just don't want to again hear about how 'the draft didn't fall our way'.

Ware would have to get a different number. Randy Gregory isn't giving up that 94!

Awesome sig - note to kids, never over tighten your helmet, holy crap.
Thanks, and you're right -- it's something I'm sure many people don't ever consider (that too tight can be a safety hazard)

Spence, Ogbah, Bruckner, Armstead, Fowler, Clowney, Ray, Judon, Bosa all have 2-4 sacks....there is no easy draft or FA answer
