There isnt a GM in the league who wont take Mahomes 1, Allen 2, and Herbert 3. Now you can put Baker/Dak at 4/5 based on right now but there is no way i want Dak as my starting QB in a playoff game

Yeah but the question is who’s playing the best now not last year or 10 years ago. Nobody would take those guys over Mahomes but yes they are currently playing better than him.
Mahomes hasn’t been Mahomes in 3 years but that’s a different convo…..

I think he's just going by this season so far, not history. It's still debatable even through this point of this season, but Mahomes did have a big turnover.

Sometimes it's the system that a quarterback plays in that defines how well they perform.

Of course surrounding them with good/great players helps as well, but more often than not the system plays a big part in the outcome.

Who knows if Jones will continue playing well all season, but if he does it will hopefully be a wake-up call for coaches to start molding their systems around what the players they have do best rather than trying to force them into one they that they don't or can't.

Yeah, some can succeed in any system, while some are clearly products of their system. Certainly, some systems generally produce higher completion percentages and get the ball out quicker than others.

We've seen multiple first-round busts at QB the last few years go elsewhere and have success. Daniel Jones and Mac Jones might be the latest two, following Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Even Geno Smith had some pretty good years in Seattle.
