NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — It is true that Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops made it to Tuscaloosa and stopped by Alabama’s bowl practice.
Bama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart confirmed Stoops was there, but said there was no picking of brains about how the OU defense managed to stop the Longhorns earlier this year.
He said coaches stop by practices all the time. Smart said the Alabama coaches have watched UT’s practices in the spring. And UT defensive coordinator Will Muschamp was a special guest of the Alabama staff earlier this year. Muschamp and Smart are good friends and coach Nick Saban is Muschamp’s former boss.
Quarterback Colt McCoy was asked about Stoops possibly giving tips to Alabama.
He said: “Haven’t we beaten them the last two years?”
