It is all funny (not in a humorous way just a little ha ha, that is all) until it happens to one of our Cowboys. Then it becomes real.

SAN JOSE -- 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald was arrested for domestic violence early Sunday morning in San Jose. Police arrived at McDonald’s home at approximately 2 a.m. where a party was being held in honor of McDonald’s birthday. He turns 30 on Tuesday.

McDonald apparently got into an altercation with his fiancee, whom a police source said is pregnant. When she showed police bruising on her neck and arms, McDonald was arrested. News of the arrest first was reported by NBC Bay Area.

Other 49ers were present, including tight end Vernon Davis and defensive end Demarcus Dobbs. McDonald was booked at 5:30 a.m. in San Jose for “inflicting injury on a spouse or cohabitant,” according to the Santa Clara Department of Corrections. Bail has not yet been set.

I'm surprised his teammates didn't drag him out of there before the police arrived.

Niners pass rush is looking less scary each day. They still have Tank though (for now), but I think he might be all hype thus far.

Using a 'Jerry' scale, this really is shining stuff here...

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ldon-smith-ban-leaves-49ers-pass-rush-hurting

Vic Fangio's San Francisco 49ers front seven was widely viewed as the NFL's best entering last season.

Now that All-Pro pass rusher Aldon Smith has been suspended for nine games, that won't be the case this season.

In guessing the length of Smith's absence, this was essentially a worst-case scenario.

With All-Pro inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman stashed on the PUP list for at least six games and run-stuffing nose tackle Glenn Dorsey recovering from a torn biceps, Fangio will have to make do with less talent for half of the season.

While there is plenty of depth on hand thanks to recent draft picks such as Corey Lemonier, Tank Carradine, Chris Borland and Quinton Dial, the drop-off from first-team All-Pro to role player is steep.

The 49ers have to brace for the possibility that Bowman, the best linebacker we studied on Game Rewind last season, won't be a difference-maker after reconstructive knee surgery.

...now enter downgrade 7?

Whatever happens if it is going to effect week 1 it probably has to be Harbaugh-led.

I expect Goodell to lay down the 6 games but after appeal that may not take effect til week 3 or 4.

Much like Dallas with Brent/Ratliff/injuries, we'll now test just how good SF is at building a DL....
