McFadden best days were, and always will be in college. This guys a leper and should have been avoided.

We'll never know if this is true unless we brought him in and had a look for ourselves. Which at $200,000 guaranteed is cheap money in order to find out. A teams oline can make or break a rb. Ours made Murray a very rich man not certain the Raiders would have. I know one thing I can't wait to see what McFadden can do behind this line. If he is not very good he gets cut and we replace him. No harm no foul.

The Oakland Oline selectively sucked the most when blocking for McFadden as opposed to the other runners on the team where, in obviously what was a bit of a conspiracy again McFadden, their OL line good enough for those runners to average 1 - 2 more yards per carry.

that is not really accurate.

Latavius Murray does have a higher yards per attempt average, but it isn't as great as you think. when you only have 82 attempts on the year, and have a 90 yard touchdown run, your yards per attempt is jacked up,. Remove that one run, and he is down from 5.2 to 4.0.

Also, Murray's attempts all came at the end of the year. the entire offense improved somewhat , including McFadden's average.

In the last 4 games - Murray ran 68 times for 258 yards. 3.79 per attempt.

McFadden ran 19 times for 85 yards. 4.47 per attempt.

Wow, sure is easy to outperform when you have limited chances and get to run fresh on a worn down defense.

Setting the bar high for his NFL career, eh?

But in all seriousness, I really do believe he will shine this season and surprise a lot of people. I don't think he'll be as "productive", so to speak, as Murray was this past season, but I think he'll be a solid player who'll make a fairly noticeable impact.

No one will come in and be as productive. It was a career year for Murray, and once in a lifetime type of career for most players.
I will be surprised if Murray gets 1200 yards this year.

In the last 25 years, as Casserly said on NFLN, that no RB with over 390 carries, came back and had a 1000 yard season, the following year.
He said that, but they did not show any stats to back it up.

I agree, he will surprise [McFadden] many people this year. If he ends up being the featured back, he will get his 1000 yards at least, even if another RB shares the load at times. If we draft a RB that is.

yeah, i'm fine with this,,,if you look at him as a 3rd down back and he can block and catch. After Dallas drafts its starting RB this will begin to look much better.

I see numerous stat comparisons to the other Oakland rb's. Just stats alone are not telling of the better player. You would have to look at the game film and situations to have a better understanding. Broaddus stated that in his review Mcfadden consistently saw 8 and 9 man fronts. It is possible the other backs were playing in garbage time or passing situations. I don't know that they were, just that it is a possibility.

That is part of the problem. Who was watching the Raiders last year? I saw Carr's game against the niners, and he looked for real.

Name one player, at any position, that has played well in Oakland the past decade.

Randy Moss looked old and done there, then went to New England and dominated.

As a guy who watched raiders games for fantasy football I think I can help a little here.

Most raiders games McFadden would start and get carries against a stacked box or fresh/excited defense because they are playing the raiders. Then the raiders start losing, insert murray/jennings/reece after the game is out of reach and suddenly there is room to run for them. Meanwhile McFadden is on the bench staying fresh for the 2015 Cowboys.

You watch him play and you still see all of the physical ability in the world.

I love this signing. Insane upside here.

The burst is definitely there...and it's incredibly easy to see the skill set that he possesses...

Without seeing enough of him and the rest of the Raiders, it's hard for me to really have a strong opinion either way...but he definitely flashes

the one thing I noticed, Carr only had 3 200+ yard games in the first 12, and 3 in the last 4.

no running back can perform if the defense sells out to stop the run and still limits passing yards, and that is why I throw out any useful stats from what happens on the Raiders. The QB situation has been awful for a long time....although I think that is changing as was shown at the end of 2014.

I think he replaces Dunbar as the third back. He is a better blocker and can catch as well as run. A more complete back than Dunbar. When he comes in the defense is off guard not knowing if he will run or go out for a pass.

As a whole I think they are looking to improve the group. So I see draft pick,Williams, McFadden as the group. I think Randle will be gone due to his off the field antics and the confidence they have in Williams.

I didn't like this signing particularly either, but where is all the animosity coming from? He's a dude who works hard and just hasn't been good enough. A willing blocker and a lifelong Cowboys fan.

Is it really that hard to just get behind a guy like this and hope he surprises while realizing he probably won't?

Why don't you like the signing? Seems like a pretty nice deal for the Cowboys and a good situation for the player.
