McFadden... Dead legs?

RealGM posted their new mock draft and had a brief description of McFadden:

4. Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

Never mind that RB is the one position where the Raiders have both talent and depth; Al Davis doesn’t worry about taking coal to Newcastle when the coal burns as fast as Darren McFadden. As soon as the Raiders staff got word of McFadden’s blazing 40 time at the Combine, they all resigned themselves that he is the pick no matter what they need or who else is available. He has the chance to be a very special running back, but the knocks on him (dead legs  , ball security, system) are legit as well. Humble prediction: if by some freak of nature he doesn’t go here and the Raiders go with Sedrick Ellis, McFadden is this year’s Brady Quinn or Aaron Rodgers, a suspected Top 5 draftee who plummets far below any reasonable prognostication.

Anyone know what they mean by dead legs?

They mean his legs go dead when he gets hit, isntead of continuing to drive.

Which is false, and stupid.

If DMC has dead legs then I wish all our RB's had dead legs.

Thanks. I kind of thought it meant that, but wasn't sure.

As CL pointed out, it's a myth that's been perpetuated by Mike Mayock's three game analysis of McFadden's running style, when he was able to isolate a clip of McFadden getting his legs taken out, and decided that he had dead legs.

Somehow he dead legged his way through dominating the SEC. I don't know how.

It's become a legitimate concern, especially in light of how Reggie Bush has performed in the NFL after being such a high draft selection.

That being said, I don't think DMac suffers from this problem nearly as much as some people claim. I doubt anyone would have even mentioned the possibility if Mayock hadn't used the term in order to put McFadden down, while simultaneously pimping some other RBs.

Mediots are known for borrowing ideas from one another, so when one says something then everybody else just runs with it and it becomes fact to them.

McFadden is a bad ace mofo and I wish all of these haters would just get over it and be ready when he starts dominating in the NFL.

yeah, I think that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard(or read) Mayock say. At least the dumbest thing I can remember.

PLaying in the best defensive conference in college football with a terrible quarterback. He dead legged himself to second place all time in conference history behind Herschel Walker.

I've noticed he gets "dead legs" a lot! It happens as soon as he crosses the goal line.
:lmao:
