McNabb... what we really think about him

I think he is average to above average, but will never have a year like he did with TO, and I definitely don't like his leadership. I think players tend to resent him

i think hes over rated as a qb. hes got decent running skills to make more time. He is far to unaccurate for me.Eagles fans can't be that dumb, they booed the guy.

Ide take McD over any other QB in the NFCE for 16 games and a playoff... the SUPER BOWL/Championship I'll take BLEDSOE/BRUNELL in the NFCE!!! not because I think they will win it... I just think McD would lose the game somehow!!!

I would take VINCE YOUNG over McD in a BIG GAME (Championship or SB)!!!

McD is 1-5 in those games right... he beat Vick!!!

I don't think he is an "elite" QB in the ranks of Brady & Manning etc. but he is better than just "above average". I would say he is in the 2nd tier of QBs along with Bledsoe.

Aside from TO, he's never had anyone to throw to. When he had Harrison to throw to at Syracuse (albeit, that was a different level) he was outstanding.

As good a job as the Eagles have done putting that team together over the years, they have failed badly at the WR position.

McNabb is an above average QB, no question.

I don't think of McNabb as an elite QB for sure.

I view him as slightly above average.
I think he excels in improvisation, strength, and being a playmaker.
I think he comes up short at accuracy, consistancy, and leadership.

I think he is most dangerous when he has a great defense, as he has benefited from most of his career.

He is also very streaky. It seems that he gets on both good and bad rolls.

After saying all of that I would rank the NFCE QBs like this:

1 or 2. McNAbb
1 or 2. Bledsoe - I know this seems homeristic but Bledsoe changed my mind after the first 6 weeks of last season ( if he can keep that pace an entire yr - he is easily #1 in the division)
3. Brunell
4. Manning

McNabb is the most overrated player in the NFL, maybe in sports. When he fails, there is always some excuse. He was hurt. He didn't have good enough wide receivers. He has the worst career completion percentage of any active WCO QB.

I am happy that he is the quarterback of an NFC East rival. Here's to McNabb being the QB of the Eagles for many years to come!

I agree, DC. The eagles have also never had a dominant running back to pair with McNabb.

I compare McNabb with Elway, a great player that has not had the help to get over the top.

I think a dominant running back could do for McNabb what Terrell Davis did for Elway. That's why I thought they should have tried to trade up for one of the top running back prospects last year when they had all of those draft picks.

I view him as Elite in the sense that he is one of the upper echelon QBs playing today IMO. I don't think he is an all time great but I think he's better then just above average for sure. I do not view him in the same light as I do Brady, Palmer or Manning but I do believe he is superior to the likes of Vick, Roeth or Bledsoe. I view him in the same light as Trent Green, Hasselbeck or Delhomme.

Westbrook is a good back, but unless they plan on throwing the ball 40 times a game again this year, he wont be used to the best of his abilities. I think that if the eagles can pick up another good runner, they would have a nice combo between the two.

But anyways, I do view McNabb as great quarterback. Like many said, not along the lines of Manning and Brady, but with the 2nd tier of good Qbs. He took a team without very many offensive threats to the NFC champ game two times in a row, and then when he finally had a great reciever, took the to the superbowl. He just needs to find out how to win in big game situations.

I think he's an above average even without TO, but take away his running and scrambling ability, he's just average. I don't think his OL factors in much, as he takes off running if he thinks he's in trouble anyway.

I think he is above average, and I would take him over VY. VY was a man among boys in college, now he will just be a man among men. He hasn't done anything in the NFL to warrant such a statement. DM might have choked in the SB, but he has been there and done that...VY has not.
