It's a new season for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, but it will pick up where last season ended -- on the bench.

McNabb, recovering from surgery on his right knee, will not play Monday when the Eagles open their preseason with a game in Baltimore against the Ravens. McNabb hasn't played in a game since he tore a ligament against the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 19.
A.J. Feeley is scheduled to start for the Eagles and Kelly Holcomb will play the second quarter. Rookie Kevin Kolb is slated to play the second half.
When asked whether there was anything that McNabb wasn't able to do in camp that prevents him from playing in the game, Eagles coach Andy Reid said: "I really think he worked very well. He seems strong. I'd rather just start him off at our place, on grass, if possible."
But the artificial SportsTec field at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore was ranked better last year in a players survey -- in fact, it was rated fifth best in the NFL. The grass field at Lincoln Financial Field was ranked 23rd.
McNabb was having another solid season before he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against the Titans last season. The five-time Pro Bowler was second in the NFL with 2,534 yards passing, tied for second with 17 touchdown passes, and sixth with a 96.6 passer rating.
McNabb has had three major injuries in the last five seasons. He missed the final seven games of the 2005 season with a sports hernia, and in 2002 missed the final six regular-season games with a broken ankle.
ESPN reporter Sal Paolantonio and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
