McQuistan. Why now?

So McQuistan is going to be active -- presumably instead of Fabini -- today. I certainly understand McQ being active against Det to get him some experience. But today? This seems to be exactly the situation where we would want an experienced guy instead of a rookie in case there was an injury.

If Bill now wants to get the guy experience, then why wouldn't he just have been the active backup all season? And if that were the case, why have Fabini at all?

I agree...it was wierd when BP said that in the first place.....this is the playoffs, if he wants to get McQ experience, that should have come during the regular season.

He's been active for the last few games.

Sorry, but only Parcells can answer those questions...! Who knows what he's thinking...

Good points guys. Lions game would of been perfect opportunity for McQ. That would be cool if he replaced Rivera :D .

You can only have so many guys active each week and BP wanted an experienced guy in there that is why Fabini was active instead of McQ. Why McQ is the guy this week in a playoff game instead of Fabini is puzzling. Next year I will be shocked if Fabini is on our roster.

Is it possible, even remotely, that Fabini is dinged up and they don't want to risk it? I mean, these guys do get injuries in practice.

He played in the Lions game - that makes sense. But today seems like a "vet experience" day, not a "get the rookie a look day"

No, just against Det as I noted.
I'm with you. I don't like the idea one bit. Fabini has played well every chance he's had this season. He looks solid and certainly has the experience. If Fabini were injured I'm sure Parcells would have said something.

Oh, and he played in the Lions game, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only time he's been active this season.

Could be. I've been wanting to see McQ. in a game for quite a while. BUT, if it were for the reason that BP said, then it's a stupid reason. I understand that he doesn't want anyone to know if Fabini or whoever is injured. I think the original poster talked about the reason stated.

I don't. Why would he care if anyone knew Fabini was injured? He's a backup. We know when every other backup is injured and it causes another player to be active. What's the difference?

McQ is a better blocking TE than Fabini. Simplest explanation.

I took that he doesn't trust Flozell anymore(he's regressed lateley) and wants McQ waiting in the wings in case Flo has a complete meltdown. I think McQ is the starting LT next season, Flo might be traded.

I also said "or whoever". With as porous as our o-line is, why give out that kind of information if you don't have to? He already reported nobody on the injured report.

I still maintain that BP's reasoning was pretty stupid.

By that logic why would Bill announce that McQ was playing? If we all know what that means for Fabini then clearly Holmgren does too.

Why is he active? Handsome Pat runs a 4.6 40 , and has hands like Polygrip -we're running the tackle eligible pass today folks.
