The kid from Mizzou last year dropped around the low 20's. That's probably about where Spence goes.

I doubt it to be honest, Spence is the best edge rusher in this entire draft class, even Marinelli loves the kid.

Pass rush is a premium and no one in this draft is even close to this guy pass rush wise.

It will really depend on to what extent his former character concerns and how the corresponding interviews go accordingly during the process.

I see Spence going in the top 15 if everything checks out, maybe even in the top 10 if he gets a push in the process.

You can not teach his ability, the guy just has it!

I mean.. He got kicked out of OSU for not quitting the drug he was taking.

It wasn't like it was weed. It was a legit drug.

I can't imagine Dallas wants another guy like this that they have to baby sit.

Supposedly that is behind him but based on talent the guy is explosive and has that edge ability!

I agree with the concern though, like I said it depends on the process.

Teams will take some risk with great ability.

I have no idea what Dallas will do, that applies to Wentz (your only round one prospect) as well..lol!

Brugler has Spence going #8 to Miami in his latest mock!

Everyone except Dallas of course

DT has been a glaring need in this team for years but we systematically ignore it

Unfortunately, you are right. I really don't understand the complete lack of bringing in or drafting a highly regarded (first 2 rounds) 1 Tech. It makes zero sense to me. It's the most important player in regards to run defense. It's also one of the most impactful players in pass defense as well. Quarterbacks don't like not having a pocket to step up into.

Having a real 1 Tech would improve every other player on defense. We need a guy who can anchor the DL against a double team and not lose ground. Someone who can make teams pay if the try to single block him.

If we had a legit 1 Tech our entire defense would be worlds better.

The theory goes - Up the middle, 1-tech, Middle LBer, Free Safety. That's what drives your run defense.
I do expect a lot of these DT's to go in the first, Robinson, Nkemdiche, Billings, Maybe Reed. That's why I have Vernon Butler as my pet cat. Either him or the 1-tech from Penn State are who I would be targeting in the 2nd, regardless of what position we take in 1.

Interesting picks: Sheldon Rankins 10 to the Giants; Braxton Miller 24 to the Bengals and Hunter Henry 27 to the Packers. Surprised he sees Rankins rising as fast as Aaron Donald. Also surprised to see Miller go that high although I can see him going late 1st (Carolina at 31) or early 2nd.

Hunter Henry would be a perfect pick for the Packers who will be getting Jordy Nelson back to go with Randall Cobb and possibly have an in shape Eddie Lacy next season. That offense could be very dangerous with Henry.

My dream is that Rankins makes it to 34. While he lacks the ideal arm length and bulk for 1 Tech, the guy is insanely strong and has a very good initial burst. In my opinion he is strong enough to anchor against a double team and could collapse the pocket and put some real pressure on the QB if he was singled up on a Center or Guard.

Look how many DT's he has in the first ! And Rankins early ...

No way Elliot gets past the Giants @ 10. They have got to be kicking themselves for letting Gurley slip by.....Won't make the same mistake again.

My offseason is all about the middle. I 100 percent agree. Safety FA, Jack and a DT round2 . defense would go up a level or 2 easy.

.

Note: Watch Jerry skip this position, though, in round 2 in preference of the RB, WR or (egads) TE!

oh I expect it

4 Javon Hargrave, DT, 6 - 1 #315 South Carolina State

He is stout at the point of attack with strong hands to lock out and control blocks. When he wins off the snap, he's able to disrupt the pocket's rhythm

"Not quitting" as if it was as easy as that? It's called addiction. The fact that as a 20 year old kid he stepped up and admitted the problem and sought the proper care is what makes me feel ok about him. Most people don't go that way. He hit rock bottom and bounced back, he could be the hungriest guy in the draft.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draf...-wentz-jared-goff-rising-mcshay-mock-draft-20

1. Tennessee - Joey Bosa DE Ohio St.
2. Cleveland - Jared Goff QB California
3. San Diego - Laremy Tunsil T Mississippi

4. Dallas - Carson Wentz QB North Dakota St.
Now that I'm deep into Wentz's tape, I feel very comfortable saying he's a legit first-round talent. He has the height, sturdy frame, natural accuracy, pocket mobility and on-field leadership you look for in a QB. He was 20-3 as a starter at NDSU and won two FCS national titles. You could certainly make a case for the Cowboys taking the best available D-line prospect, such as Oregon'sDeForest Buckner. But if Dallas is sold on Wentz (or Goff, if he's available), this could prove to be a very wise long-term investment at the game's most important position.

5. Jacksonville - Jalen Ramsey CB Florida St.
6. Baltimore - Ronnie Stanley T Notre Dame
7. San Francisco - Laquon Treadwell WR Mississippi
8. MIami - Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida
9. Tampa Bay - DeForest Buckner DE Oregon
10. N.Y. Giants - Sheldon Rankins DT Louisville
11. Chicago - Myles Jack ILB UCLA
12. New Orleans - A'Shawn Robinson DT Alabama
13. Philadelphia - Jack Conklin T Michigan St.
14. Oakland - Robert Nkemdiche DT Mississippi
15. St, Louis - Paxton Lynch QB Memphis
16. Detroit - Reggie Ragland ILB Alabama
17. Atlanta - Shaq Lawson DE Clemson
18. Indianapolis - Taylor Decker T Ohio St.
19. Buffalo - Jaylon Smith OLB Notre Dame
20. N.Y. Jets - Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St.
21. Washington - Jarran Reed DT Alabama
22. Houston - Vernon Butler DT Louisiana Tech
23. Minnesota - Darron Lee OLB Ohio St.
24. Cincinnati - Braxton Miller WR Ohio St.
25. Pittsburgh - Eli Apple CB Ohio St.
26. Seattle - Andrew Billings DT Baylor
27. Green Bay - Hunter Henry TE Arkansas

This. There will be a few prospects available (at #34) who can shine at the 1-tech DT position and help generate pressure up the gut while stopping the run.

Note: Watch Jerry skip this position, though, in round 2 in preference of the RB, WR or (egads) TE!

Did you see the offense last year?! This time he'd be justified

I am as big a Romo fan as there is but the writing is on the wall. People weren't paying attention last year when he was limping back the huddle after every play with the back issues. Doubt he can make it through 2 full seasons. We all kept thinking Troy would play forever and when he couldn't we were left with crap at qb for the better part of a decade. Not again.
