I would take that but I don't see the explosiveness that Allen had. If he's JAred Allen then im all for taking him but I don't even think the guy is a consistent double digit sack guy.

Allen was faster in the 40 (4.72 to 4.86), but slower in the three-cone (7.11 to 6.89) and 20-yard shuffle (4.72 to 4.21). Allen ran his first 10 yards in 1.68 while Bosa ran his in 1.69. Their broad jumps were the same and Allen was better on the vertical jump by an inch.

I'm fairly sure that if there was a crystal ball saying Bosa was indeed Jared Allen, he'd be the #1 pick with a bullet.

And Lynch falls to round 2.

Wouldn't that be something if Dallas took him there.

I think he's going to fall out of the first round.

I'm sorry, but Bosa scares me. Maybe I'm stereotyping, but he just sounds like a pothead.

And I honestly believe if the Cowboys aren't interested in Goff, they'll be able to swing a trade with the Rams or convince the 49ers to come up and get him because they're negotiating with the Rams - a team in their own division. The Rams have two second round picks, and they cannot leave this draft without a quarterback who can start by the end of the year and definitely next year.

And I would absolutely HATE if the Giants picked Ezekiel Elliott. If we're not going to take him, please don't let him go to the Giants. Picture OBJ, Ezekiel Elliott and Eli? Talk about your next set of triplets. :(

Not when you have Tom Brady on PEDs in the same draft class.

But that Tom Brady on PEDs has bust practically stamped on his forehead... as does Bosa to a certain extent. I'm just saying that if you knew what Bosa was going to be, you wouldn't gamble on anyone else in this draft. Just like if you knew one of these QBs would be a star, they'd be the easy choice.

if the cowboys have any thoughts of competeing for a championship they need a qb and to fix the defense.

If he can be Allen I would be fine with the pick
There is going to be some great talent at 34 too. A good CB or DT will be there
Maybe even a QB prospect

What about Kevin Dodd there?

What if you 'flipped it' and took the better quarterback at #4 and then took the guy at #34 who measures almost identically to Bosa, had a much more productive season this year, and looks to have significantly better upside going forward?

Probably. Obviously we don't know how any player is going to turn out, but I'm having trouble with those finding fault with Bosa when his short-range numbers indicate that he can be an Allen type of player. Some are just looking at his 40 and saying he'll fail. Some are just looking at this sack numbers from last year.

I read an article about pass rushers (I think on SB nation) that gave them an overall score based on sacks, tackles for loss and possibly pressures. The author's contention was that those numbers the last two years of college mirrored success in the NFL, and Bosa was in that same range as others who came into the league and succeeded. I wish I could find that article because it was pretty interesting.

That's the one concern that has to be answered. We don't need another player with a drug addiction.

Can we also look at the numbers that rookie pass rushers bring to the NFL?

I find it ironic that people promoting Bosa with the pick and the 'immediate contributor' seem to leave that part out.

We got the player many stated was the top pass rusher in last year's draft. How's that looking in retrospect?

He wasn't a top flight pass rusher at OSU. Especially against the good teams. Pure insanity to take this guy at 4. He has plenty of shortcomings on and OFF the field. Not a good risk that high in the draft.

Kaepernick is younger than Romo, won more playoff games than Romo, been to the Super Bowl, and in 2014 signed a massive six-year $126 million contract extension and yet McShay plugs Goff to San Fran with the 7th pick.

Ridiculous and absurd.
If Goff is there at 4, Dallas must take him.

Not at all.
Kaepernick wants out of there and new regimes often want a new QB.

As for the youth thing, you are right about that for sure.
But there's no real universe where you can seriously compare Kaepernick with Romo...not with a straight face anyway. Romo dwarfs him.

Now if you're saying Dallas should take Goff there, you won't get any argument from me. IF they rate him that highly, they should pull the trigger.

I'd prefer a qb at 4, but the right qb. If their evaluation says no to that, I'm perfectly fine with Bosa. Watched alot of Big 10 football, and he was a dominant player.

Well, some put up better numbers than others, but I do think expecting high sack numbers from any rookie DE isn't realistic. The best we could hope is that he would be disruptive, like Lawrence was in the playoffs his rookie year. We need someone to make the QB uncomfortable in the pocket.

With both Lawrence and Gregory, their first seasons were affected by injury. Gregory started off showing the ability to be disruptive against the Giants, but then got hurt and never resurfaced.

Of course, with our injury luck, Bosa would probably also miss at least half of his rookie season.

I think Kevin Dodd is a better player with much more upside and you can get him at #34. Bosa has maxed out, Dodd is just scratching the surface.

So, it effectively quiets any notion of Bosa or any rookie pass rusher being an "immediate contributor", doesn't it?

I would say the giants hit the jackpot as well.

I can see the giants taking elliot or treadwell and picking up weddle via FA. They will be the best team besides dallas this season.

If they get elliot and not treadwell I bet they sign sanu
