I did research. Go back and look at the college careers of most of the first-round picks who were busts. There are quarterbacks on that list who completed more than 70 percent of their passes as a senior, who had great TD-int. ratios, etc. The quarterbacks who fail in the NFL don't do it because they were poor in college. Most of them are drafted in the first round because they stood out in college productionwise.

Now, it would be great if there was an absolute tell on which QB to draft, but there just isn't.

No, that's just an unrealistic expectation for any college player.

Kaepernick is younger than Romo, won more playoff games than Romo, been to the Super Bowl, and in 2014 signed a massive six-year $126 million contract extension and yet McShay plugs Goff to San Fran with the 7th pick.

Ridiculous and absurd.
If Goff is there at 4, Dallas must take him.

And he wants out of SF.....Big difference you forgot to mention. Kaepernick has even threatened to retire if he's not traded. Kaepernick has played his last down for the 49ers. Unless you believe Blaine Gabbert is starting material....49ers need a QB.

Allen was faster in the 40 (4.72 to 4.86), but slower in the three-cone (7.11 to 6.89) and 20-yard shuffle (4.72 to 4.21). Allen ran his first 10 yards in 1.68 while Bosa ran his in 1.69. Their broad jumps were the same and Allen was better on the vertical jump by an inch.

And Allen was a 4th round pick. Pretty scary idea of burning the 4th pick in the draft on a guy that has the same measurables.

In this scenario, trade down with SF for their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. Take Myles Jack with 7th, Andrew Billings with 34th and sign Hardy/Mario Williams and Eric Weddle.

Defense is immediately upgraded from the middle out.

Bosa, probably another suspension waiting to happen. With lesser talent. Smart as Hardy with a CELL FONE!

Myles Jack please at 4 then follow that up with William Jackson III in the 2nd round and I would be extremely happy.

So Allen shouldn't have been taken in the first round?

Tom Brady was a sixth-round pick. He shouldn't have been taken in the first round?

Players slip through the cracks all the time for a variety of reasons.

The more you study Bosa the more you get the feeling the guy is mentally slow. Bobby Carpenter-ish. I'm just not buying it after getting burned by OU hype before.

Who cares what he wants? Nobody owes him a thing, and players don't dictate to teams, especially players who got benched, injured, and are overpaid.

Kaepernick has even threatened to retire if he's not traded.

Then let him! Call that obvious bluff and let him follow through with it. The 49'ers will keep his rights for as long as they want anyway, while he doesn't get paid a dime.

. Kaepernick has played his last down for the 49ers. Unless you believe Blaine Gabbert is starting material....49ers need a QB.

He's going nowhere. He's asking for a trade because he wants off of the team, but not the money. Nobody's touching that deal for a player who just got benched and then just had multiple surgeries on top of it. He can play in San Francisco or he can rot. But he'll do it on their terms.

Thanks for conjuring up that image. That's who Bosa is. A Bobby Carpenter. Let's hope his dad didn't play for Garrett. ;)

Yeah, another reason not to let this staff draft your next QB. Perhaps we should wait until Garret gets the bullet.

yeah, but then you run the risk of going 8-8 again and ending up drafting in the teens or twenties and being out of the market for a good quarterback.

Draft the quarterback when you can and then bring in a staff that can actually coach him.

Kaepernick's "massive" contract lets the team dump him whenever they want. And if Goff is there? He will be there.

Dallas will call San Fran and say "whatcha got for us? Cause we are taking him. San Fran gives up their second and maybe a CB. Dallas wins :omg:
