In the 4th qtr with 3 points lead at the 50 yard line on 4th and 1, do you think Rams would have punted the ball back against Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady, Brees etc.

Since it was Dak he had no problem giving ball back to Cowboys.

That was heck of a coach showing where Dak stood.

No he just played to win the game. He made the safe call. It wasn't like we was racking up a lot of points. If he did not convert he pretty much gave us the ball back at the 50 vs a punt where we get the ball back at the 20 or 30. It was nothing more than field position.

Or you could look at it as McVay wanting to make sure Dak had as many yards as possible to go in order to score, as opposed to risking his offense being stopped short of the first down, thereby giving up field position....kinda like the reason most teams opt to punt. IIRC, they pinned us down inside the 10 somewhere?

McVay didn't say anything about Dak. You did.

Tells you all you need to know about Dak.

He didn't say anything about Dak. Says something about you though. :muttley:

Go for it and don't make it and we're only 15-20 yards from tying the game. I'm pretty aggressive, but I thought it was the right call.

In January of 2019 McVay outcoached and outclassed us and everything else.

December 2019 the lame duck Garrett led Cowboys who could do no right against anyone else, made McVay's Rams look silly.

Then Sunday.

I have no idea what to think anymore sometimes.

Home vs away doesnt mean THAT much in this league.

Yeah like he didn't want to us to only need 15 yards for field goal range. Crazy concept right?

Or just maybe that’s what the call is 98% of the time in a game that’s all about field position and the coach knew it would be statistically higher to pin the Cowboys deep and force them to move the entire field for the tie or win rather than chance getting stuffed ?
I mean your opinionated logic is seriously flawed if the perfect pass into Gallup’s arms wasn’t overshadowed by some good acting from a dB who was hand wrestling well past 5 yards - but obviously McVay is so incredibly smart he planned that , right ?

He did make fun of our offense, but it sucked in the 2nd half. But quarterbacks aside, he punted because he knew we weren't driving up the field. Why risk giving us the ball at mid field? It kind of backfired but for the penalty. But it was the smart call regardless of who is playing quarterback. You get a feel for how the game is going. That's when you decide whether or not to take a risk. That's why punting was the right call. That's why McCarthy going for it on 4th was also the right call.
