Dak is in the final year of his contract.

Zeke is not in the final year of his contract.

Zeke will have made 25M by the end of this season. Dak will have made 2.6M in the same time period.

Ezekiel Elliott, NFL ranks since 2016

1st in Total Touches (1,003)

Now give me the fork and knife on Dak.......guess we're eating with our hands ......

What's the point of being on CZ if you can only comprehend 1 liner type posts?
Sorry, but your post are too long.

You lose your punch with books to read. No wonder I didn’t recall you the other day. I didn’t read it all . Lol

You have very informative info if you’d leave out your narration or summarization.

You kinda remind me of Jumbo. Often simply too much to digest scrolling thru. But had a ton of info.

Now this is a great informative post.

Do you think Zeke might be considering on forcing this issue if he doesn’t think the Cowboys are interested in extending him beyond his Rookie contract?

This is all that makes sense to me if there’s anything to these rumors. He’s not willing to allow himself to be used up for next two years if we aren’t interested in extending him.

Dak is a QB.

Zeke is a RB.

That's never a direct comparison.

The highest paid RB in the averages 14.375M.

The highest paid QB averages 35M.

There are 19 QBs that average more than the top RB.

Holdouts almost always come down to the agent more than the player.

It's not common for players (or agents) to be disgruntled about the 4th year of the rookie contract.

It's much more likely that Zeke and his agent would push the issue next year than this year.

His conduct issues reduce his leverage.

He would have much better leverage if he avoids trouble this year and then holds out next year starting with the 1st OTA practices.

Zeke seems to be adverse to negative media more than most players.
Based on interviews and the All or Nothing series that showed the inter-workings of the team in 2017.
Note:
Le'Veon Bell did not hold out until he had finished his first 5 years and had played on the Franchise Tag for a year.
It was the 2nd franchise tag that caused him to hold-out.

Dak is a QB and QB do get more $$$$ than HB but the problem with this equation is that Dak is a below average QB being supported by a Above average team.....hence the FO dilemma and in the end as it usually does Talent gets paid.
Don't be surprised if Dak is signed after Zeke and Coop or not signed at all when the league kicks off.

Since you are so obsessed with 2016...
Dak and Zeke were rookies the same year. Which one won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year? Hint, it wasn't Zeke. :D

What if none of the 3 are signed? What's the danger in that? Have to pay more to sign them in 2020? Yes, that's a risk but one I would be willing to take. They could still tag the QB, the RB is optioned and they could wait and see on Cooper.

This team has an inexperienced OC and a QB and WR on their contract year. What's the greater risk? Acting sooner or waiting until later?

All are under contract and if the Joneses had kept their mouths shut, they could be dealing the upper hand but as usual, they can't keep those mouths shut.

Coop has us as we invested a no 1 for him this is a gimme. Now concerning Dak where is he going? Who will pay him 30 mill + a year.....NO ONE!
Why you ask well its something called Talent which either gives a player high demand or very little and at this point as a starting QB Dak has very little leverage if he goes shopping his gig....
I know you will respond with how I'm a hater la la la la but in the end when it involves $$$$ talent usually gets a new contract and the rest wait it out....
Wait and see what occurs the next 2 months and you will come down to earth when either Dak signs a real friendly team deal or none at all.

Did you address my question? Could a holdout be spurred by him thinking we aren’t going to extend him?

Please quit believing and repeating rumors that have no supporting evidence.

The National Media loves to attach the Cowboys to stories as click-bait.

The fact that other media jump on the same rumor to discuss it, does NOT make the rumor valid.

The internet and social media can make it appear that a rumor has multiple sources confirming it;
however, most often a rumor has 1 source and many people just repeat it including other media.

There are many sports websites that literally just repeat news from other sources.

Sometimes they give credit to the original source but often they don't.

We've seen many times that a National Media source has an article "Calvin Hill of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports..."

Often it was just an Opinion by Calving Hill but they present it as if it's fact.

If Zeke is really going to hold-out, somebody in the local DFW media will find out and comment about it. At that point it might be worth discussing; however, the National Media reports literally mean nothing.

The local reporters need to maintain a level of professionalism because they must have some amount of access to the local teams they cover in order to do their jobs.

The National Media often has no downside to telling completely fabricated stories.

If no contract by next start of training camp.. maybe. But the "story" doesn't even make since yet. Who holds out with 2 years left on a contract.

The general consensus appears to be that paying a RB like 15 million or more for example isn’t good Cap mgmt especially with so many other pressing needs like with Prescott and Cooper.

And we should use Zeke up these next two years all we can. And simply draft another RB.

Perhaps Elliott feels we don’t have intention to sign him to a second contract and wants out now to go somewhere who is more willing to extend him.

What we don't know is what his agent is telling him. And no team has had their triplets in the top 5 in the cap era. BTW, below is the list of FA's for next year.
