Kiper:
Strengths- Experienced....proven vet....knowledgeable.... rarely gets tripped up or caught off guard.....

Weaknesses- Akward.....odd looking..... poor comeback speed....overconfidence?.....character issues

Mayock:
Strengths- Strong.....tough to move him out of his stancs once hes set.....something to prove?....crediblity factor.....on field experience

Weaknesses- Off putting.....lacks charisma....experience(flash in the pan?)..... has done it at a lower level

This post:

Pro: It is somewhat draft related.

Weakness: no clue what the point of it is.

Mayock knows his stuff. He got a lot of picks right last draft.

Kiper is just a fool.

Kiper invented the position sort of like Lawrence Taylor. He's a wily vet who's getting by on experience long after others have surpassed his skills. Mayock's got great upside but isn't yet recognized on par with Kiper because he's playing for a small market team.

If Kipers weakness is awkward looking, how do you think Juke feels?

Not true. Mayock gets some right but be also gets some way wrong. Kiper can't mock for his life, but he knows something ( from his own research ) about just about every draft eligable kid out there.

Agreed. I can't stand Mayock. It seems to me like he just says outlandish things, and hopes to be right every once in a while. More often than not he's wrong. I don't get all the Kiper hate. He knows the draft, it's his life. I think he's insightful. You can name your favorite draft guy, but honestly they're probably wrong just as often as Kiper.

Kiper has been around a long time and I enjoyed watching him and hearing his opinions because he was just about the ony one on tv at the time. I have watched both over the past several years and it seem to me that at this point in their lives that Mayock is working a lot harder at his craft and is more accurate and insightful than Kiper. Kiper is still pretty good, but he is resting on his laurels a little bit at this point.

And he was pimping Mendenhall really hard last year, and ripped us for taking Felix.

I watched Kiper's first draft in 1983 or '84, whenever it was, and subscribed to his books then. I've enjoyed his work for a lot of years.

Like Count said, Kiper sort of redefined the position. ESPN had Joel Buchsbaum on a couple of times in the early years, but he just wasn't made for television.

I like how Kiper created a great gig for himself.

For me, Joel was the best at the draft. I was really sad when he passed. And you are so correct he really didn't have a look for TV.
