Dont know if anybody has been watching the last four Charger games but Merriman is absolutly tearing it up. The reason for my statement is, Merriman is so much more ahead physically then Ware. On top of this, he has 3-4 moves compared to Ware's one. Today, he was giving Willie Roaf fits and on one play absolutly bull-dozed Roaf. Roaf is one of the leagues best tackles.

I'm not a Ware detractor, matter in fact he might be my fav Cowboy. But Merriman seems to be a stronger Dwight Freeny. This is not to say that he will always be better. When Ware puts 15 lbs on and learns more moves then he is going to be a freak. Until then, I must give an un-biased opinion on this.Opinions

I agree. Merriman went head to head with Willie Roaf today and totally abused him.

Theyre both great though, you can't go wrong with either one.

I havent seen enough of merriman to give a good opinion on him. But I have seen enough of Ware and I really dont care who is better than him, he was a significant "instant upgradw" to our pass rush. It leads me to believe that maybe he has a better work ethic (in BPs mind) or something of that sort! As long as he gives us what we need on D, I dont care who is better.....lol, GO COWBOYS!!

Everyone has a right to their opinion but this thread is going to get torched with people in disagreement and I am one of those people. If you can't see that Ware is far better than Merriman I am not even going to argue.

Ware has one move and is weak. He is only getting by with talent. Merriman, has arms the size of quads, hes fast, and uses a plethera[sp] of moves. To say Ware is better at this time would be biased. Again, im not saying who will be better later. Have you watched Merriman play yet?

Pass the pipe. It's obvious whatever you are smoking is very good stuff.

You probably can't go wrong with either one.
Merriman, if he is really 270(and he may well be), is a freak. That play he hit Holmes on today was scary.
Ware, on the other hand, seems to have something special. He is also super fast and maybe as physically strong as Merriman while being outweighed by 20 pounds. I haven't heard it discussed much by the media but he pushed around Tra Thomas against the iggles and I heard he pushed around Leonard Davis today. Both those guys have 60+ pounds on him.
I think Merriman may have personality issues, based on his comments after the draft, that Dallas was aware of and caused them to pass on him. Who knows if that will cause him problems down the road but I think Ware looks like the wiser pick right now.

I will take Ware. Don't have to deal with Merriman's attitude.

not saying either is better but i do know Ware had at least 6 QB pressures today and he was the reason Henry got his INT. Sacks dont always tell the whole story.

At the end of the day, Merriman is a thug and his agent kind of promotes that. Ware is a good person and he is plenty good enough obviously. Fact is if I remember correctly Ware actually showed up when he supposed to in training camp, but that's just me I guess. Heck who would ever want someone to show up to work and do their job?

also merriman is almost at the peak of his talent whereas ware has much more of the dreaded P word, and if he is able to stay motivated and works hard he can be really really special

Zman, seriously have you seen him play yet? He has 4-5 sacks in almost 2 less games then Ware. First game he didnt play, and he rarely played in game 2 due to injuries. Say what you want, im just not being biased. Ware is a blue chip talent too, but he wont be as good as he can be until he goes to 275-280 amd learns a few other moves.

Oh no, another debate that will live on for a while - like the Newman, Suggs, Lwftwich campaign...

I'm very happy to have Ware. Given the choice, I would have taken Ware every single time.

As for Merriman playing well, I think cudos should go to him. Doesn't mean that our guy is better or worse. I will say that Roaf has been coming back from an injury. He may not be the Roaf of old, and even if he is, what difference does it make?

I think it is too early to tell. I will not **** on Merriman just because we didnt' draft him and we got Ware. Sir, did you watch the game today? Davis weighs 385 man. Ware bull rushed him. That's not a lack of strength. I remember reading he was one of the stronger DE/LB's.

From what I have seen, Ware has alot more speed, in terms of football speed. Merriman is a beast. Either one would be a welcome addition to my team. I think both teams got a great player. I think BP liked Ware's work ethic and general attitude more, thus leading us to draft Ware. Both are going to be real good.

After today, the way Ware played the run, I must say, he definaetly has really improved his game. Merriman was, and still probably is more adept at playing the run, but Ware has made up alot of ground in that regard. I think they will be about the same level of player soon, however, Ware will be more of an elite pass rusher, while Merriman strikes me as more of the all around mauler

Don't hate Merriman just because we decided not to draft him

I think Ware is more physically gifted, but Merriman, right now, is a more finished product. Ware bullrushes too much, but eventually he will learn some moves (hopefully from Ellis, who has some nifty ones.)

And I love Ware too as a player.

you just seem to not be willing to give him ample credit for the otstanding job he is doing. Davis, as I said before is one of the biggest guys in the league and Ware bullied him.... I dont care who is better, as long as Ware gets HIS job done well, I'm glad he's a Cowboy!!
