It was at the Greater Iowa Asphalt Conference. He shared some of his experiences of growing up, graduating from college, being drafted, and being part of the Cowboys. He emphasized the importance of work ethic, striving for excellence, leaders serve their teammates / coworkers, and don't let ego get in the way. At the end there were about 30 minutes open for questions from audience.

I switched companies few months back. Wednesday I met my former boss (he knows I am a big Cowboys fan) and he told me they had training in Dallas and he met with Darren and showed me the photo he took with him……

Yeah, just in the way he carries himself it was easy to notice his athleticism.

He was the keynote speaker at a local conference. I was really impressed by how unbelievably nice of guy he is! He is a really good speaker; very personable. In a room of 500 plus people it felt like we were just sitting around bs'ing among friends.

The guy started off his retirement press conference with... Paraphrasing from memory.... "You guys know all about the success and the three Super Bowls....I want to talk about the tradition of the Dallas cowboys. What it means to be a cowboy".


That told me all I needed to know about him!

That's great. Years ago when I was heading in a cab with a bunch of friends and a girl was like "oh, there's some former Dallas Cowboy hanging out with us tonight, wood...something or other"

Being he was my favorite player I freaked out. We partied, super nice guy, talked a bit, this was back when Drew Henson was around, we spoke about that amongst other things. Didn't want to nerd out too much, but yeah really great guy
